I have this level 2 mission that asks me to go find the location of a battleship fleet! I'm in a frigate, so i'll probably be wasted within seconds of finding them unless I warp away in time. It says nothing about engaging them so would it be better if I do the mission with a rookie ship or shuttle? I mean who cares they can destroy the ship as long as my pod survives...... right?

The name of the mission would help, but if it is the one I remember, you warp in, see the BS and the mission is complete...

Yup, so at a guess you need to.... (wait for it)...

Find a fleet of Battleships.

Or do you also have to kill said fleet?
Normally the missions that require you to find an object don't require you to actually kill stuff, unless it's in the way.
There are also some really good sites that list the vast majority of missions, one is the "eve survival guide".

It's named "Human Cattle (5 of 5). I got it from Sisters of EVE.

Great i'll check out the site. And no I don't have to shoot anything when I find the fleet, but maybe on the way there could be small rats. I'll just go in and see if I can survive with a rookie ship.

It is a Lvl 2 mission. You will NOT be required to attack the battleships. Your current ship will be fine. iirc you need only to spot them to accomplish the mission.
