Hi, when I began playing, I wanted to know what to expect when entering this game and what path I should focus on, as not to squander my cash. (Or in this case, trial time.) After reading over a few short guides, including the CCP sponsored career guide. I think I've decided on becoming an accountant. However, when searching the forum archives and the deep bowels of Google, I found there wasn't much description on accounting as a pathway all on its own. So, if I want to become an accountant, what should I do?

Right now I'm training the Trade skill to level four, which will be done tomorrow night. Then, when I get the cash together, I'll buy an accounting skill book, and will start learning that. Beyond that, though, I have no idea what to do.

There is no such thing as an accountant in EVE.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

For what I know (which is not much tbh) the trading career is difficult to start from scratch, since you need money to make money. So maybe you should begin mining/manufacturing and then trading.

Or join an industrial corp and offer your services as a trader for the corp manufacturers.

Of course there are people in charge of vast amounts of isk in this game, but those positions are usually only entrusted to people that are already insanely rich and have a long record of loyalty.

So becoming a 'higher up' is not a trial career. That said you can start your industrial corporation in a short time. Alternatively you can learn to become a serious trader and ask people to invest in you.

You can be an accountant in game however it will have very little to do with out of game actuarial skills. All though that will help you do the job better the biggest thing you need to be an accountant in game is trust.

In order for you to manage funds you have to be in a group that has them and lots of them Big alliances or Big corps.

As a brand new player it will be very difficult for you to attain that position with in alliance because they simply dont know you. It can take a while for the major alliance leaders with in this game to recognize who you are and what you can do for them.

With the right roles and account can rob an alliance blind so you can see how in that position accountants greatest asset is his trust and reliability.

If your still interested in the money managing side of eve get in to trade for yourself. Once you know how to feel out the market you can actually run in game Investment schemes for other players. Im not going to get into the legitimacy of these im just saying there out there.

Trading for yourself or running investment deals for other players will be much more attainable in the foreseeable future for you.

In the mean time while you get your trading skills up, find some other clever ways to make isk for yourself.
