So i just subbed EVE for the first time, i did this with a buddy invite deal ( 410mil ISK woohoo ! )
now this might seem like a silly question, but do i now have access to everything in the EVE universe?
for example the crucible expansions?

I am not sure about this because the steam service makes me buy crucible for 19.99€, while the trail upgrade only cost me 5€ for registration ( +14.95€ for gametime )

So am i missing something, or is Gaben just being a greedy bastard :)

Yes, there may be other players in the way tho.

That's called marketing. They want you to pay for stuff, no matter if it's a good deal or not. Just ignore them.

maybe just throw an offtopic question in here instead of making a new thread for it,

what would be a good thing to do with my 400mil ISK ?
by that i mean : are there some things i could buy or do with that cash that would help me as a new player?

thanks for the help !

As a new player? Hire a knowledgeable player to explain to you what the bloody game is all about. Money is well spend on education, is it not?

Train the skills for a set of +3 implants (except Charisma) and buy them. It's about 40M or so and will speed up your training time for skills. With the rest of the ISK, save it 'till you know you can use it well (not just when you think you can use it well). I've seen a few people waste lots of ISK because they didn't have the skills (SP or RL experience in the game) to actually fly their shiny new ship well. Make sure you're flying stuff that your current income stream can afford to lose, not just what your initial cash influx can handle.

Eve has a very steep learning curve and until you have a solid grasp of it, you're more likely to end up wasting the ISK by accident. Also, avoid Contracts (especially ones posted in Local) like the plague. If it sounds like an amazing deal or too good to be true, it's a scam (goes double for anyone asking you to send them ISK for any reason).

But, as gfldex indicated, the absolute best thing for you to do right now is to get in touch with a more experienced player that can mentor you, just someone you can ask questions of when you're confused or need guidance. However, you won't need to pay them. Any good mentor won't ask for ISK from a newbie (if they do ask for ISK, they probably care more about the ISK than you and there are better people out there to help you).

First of all:

Any paying method means you get full acces to EVE, so as long as you AREN'T on a trial account you can do all stuff in EVE.
As for the example of Crucible, EVE Online doesn't have paid expansions, every single or major expansion is "free" (free as in you get the expansion for nothing if you have an active account).

And some maths 101: 14.95 Euro + 5 Euro subscription fee = 19.95 Euro, so actually that is more or less the same as what Steam is asking you to pay them.

Who is Gaben? Oh, nm - you mean the guy who runs steam. Yes, being a greedy bastard for offering you a version of EVE that is integrated with the Steam services.

well he's not greedy actually its a great platform for selling games and i love steam. its just fun to rag on gabe :D
i just dont like it when thing are made more difficult then they need to be, steam could just sell EVE the same way that CCP does it trough the site.
that would make it less confusing for new players, the game is confusing enough as it is :)

edit: small question : i read that its possible to buy cargo containers to store and organize stuff in the item hangar, but ive been to jita and i cant find this item? am i doing it wrong?
i would love to be able to do this cause my item hangar is a total mess right now.

source for the cargo containers things :
You should also consider using cargo containers. You can buy them on the market and you will sometimes get them as rewards for missions as well. Assembled containers can be named and I like to use them to separate out items I intend to keep from items for sale as well as separating out high, med and low slot items and ammo for when I'm fitting ships. I leave the main hangar for stuff I'm buying and selling (that's where it ends up by default) and use the containers to organize everything else.

Secure larger containers. Waste of money until you become a hauler or miner. Just drag your item windows to the appropriate size and don't waste millions on 'storage' helpers. You need a huge amount of cargo space on your ship to move them as well, so they will be dead weight. Don't start looking in to what to spend your money on, there will be things you can usually afford at your level regardless of your 'head start' in the economy department.
Ships being the largest problem, eg a retriever (mining barge) takes 10 days to train to but you'd need around 100 mil for the ship/equipment, so ISK may not match up with their skills for a while. All the best T2 shiny gear has 5-10 skills atached you need to master (5 days per skill minimum) you need to train before you can equip them, so it doesn't matter if you have all the money in Eve.

Forget the money, work on everything else first, and try not to waste any.

i wasnt trying to waste money actually, i was looking for a better way to organize my stuff.
it might be my OCD talking here but i dont like the way you cant organize your stuff,

you would think a game this deep and expansive would have more ways to organize stuff then just a search filter.
just being able to seperate the main items hanger into 2 or 3 windows would help alot.

Actually, station containers, what you'll want for sorting things in the station, are quite cheap (10k-1M ISK). They're impossible to remove from the station due to their size, but that doesn't matter because you're just sorting them.

Look in the market under Ship Equipment > Deployable Equipment > Cargo Containers for Station Container / Vault / Warehouse. The Station Container (the smallest of the three) is probably what you really need, it's 10k ISK and holds 1,000,000m3 (each size is 10x the size and 10x the cost of the previous one, up to 100,000,000 for 1M ISK) 1M m3 will be more than enough for all the storage you could possibly want to do any time soon, and way overkill.

I'm fairly sure that Callis was thinking of Giant Secure Containers (GCSs), which are anchorable cans that hold 3.9k m3 each and some miners anchor them in belts to mine into and then haul later (since they're more secure than jetcanning). You can ignore everything he said because he was just talking about mining and has no relation to the question you asked.
