Are they too specialized or can they be a decent roaming hunter?

I've heard that the Sabre can do ok for itself if push comes to shove ... but there's no way I'd try it unless I had cash to burn, I don't think it'd end well. The core issue is that they're simply not designed for solo combat, their whole role is fleet support.

Effective...

^^^ That's a real ass-kicker. Not cheap by any means, but enough firepower and speed + at least some tank to survive a knife fight. Dual prop FTMFW. But if you like, go ahead and drop the MWD for a web.

I've had tons of fun in a solo Sabre, but you *WILL* get podded. And you'll tackle yourself for them to do it too.

sabre is one of the best (solo) ships out there.

if you are good you will kill coverts, bombers, most frigates (beware of wolfs and gallente AF), other sabres, transports, even Tier3 BC and BS assumed you got enough time to trill through their tank after grilling the drones.

Other interdictors are very bad for solo I believe.

Getting podded costs me ~10 insured battlecruiser losses just to update my clone. Maybe more.

I remember being 12. You should probably go put on your big boy pants and come back when you have something helpful to say.

On topic:
I've seen people solo in Flycatchers, they fit them like a Hookbill minus a lowslot. Can't say I've ever seen a solo Heretic or Eris though.

Flycatcher hurts things. Sabre also hurts. Not sure bout the other two.

I tried this in an Eris fit for close range. Close range fit and caught not paying total attention got me killed, but barely. So yeah, I think you can do it. You'd need to always be the attacker though and give yourself some Railgun range.

Then, warp in, pop the bubble, alpha round and then who knows - an industry type is already on his heels.

Sabre/Falcon is pretty popular combo for people shooting things in nullsec by themselves. The other interdictors can be underestimated and might lead to fights, but the Sabre is generally considered the best of the bunch.

This.

The Sabre is by far the best of the bunch.

The Eris (Gallente) is second best and hits like a truck with those blaster bonuses.

Avoid the Heretic (Amarr) like the plague.

The Flycatcher (Caldari) is ok as a rocket fit, but don't go light missiles.

Sabre is the only I am aware of that can reliably work for solo stuff. From slot profile matching fitting margins? And the hull bonus that make it work? Sabre can make it happen. That is why it is so much more expensive than the other dics: because it can!

All the others are trying hard and face planting as they go. Flycatcher got nowhere the low slot capabilities. Eris is a joke among many... not a good joke. Why care for it? Sabre can do better everywhere. Heretic can be somewhat ~speedy~ but hat's it; when it comes down to it; it's still not a Sabre, so whatever...

It knows what you think.
