Are we seeing CCP sanctioned RMT? - Plex for Graphics card

With the recent wave of bot bannings and isk removals (awesome work btw CCP please keep it up) we have been quite vocal with our disgust on RMT.

So I think it is time we look at CCP's most recent offer. 20 plex for a GTX560. There is nothing to stop whoever brought one of these to go out and sell it on, essentially cashing their ISK for Real Money, in a nice, friendly CCP endorsed way.

This was limited to 100 people and 1 per customer, so not a big deal this time round. But it is what it *could* become in the future, if the restrictions were lifted, or if more products became available this way.

So I thought I'd bring it to you folks, what are your thoughts on the whole thing. (Beyond the Plex price spike, there is plently of other threads moaning about that)

The real value of the video card is half the price of the PLEX.

I don't have a problem with CCP running such an operation.

i think it will put plex prices out of whack. maybe if plex and sub was reduced in price or something i could see it happening.

Anyone actually set up to churn out PLEX for money (RMT sellers) isn't going to take a loss on each sale to do so.

I would enjoy to convert all virtual wealth (2,5 Tr.isks) from EVE assets to real currency, but in a legal way, aprooved by CCP. Something like the smart Diablo 3 auction hall for real money, so CCP gets its share.

I luckily got one nVidia 560 and appreciated to spare 180 euros tonight.

Yes its obviously a test to see if they can do it.

Yes there will probably be other offers in the future as well.

PLEX is, and has always been, CCP sanctioned RMT. We already knew that.

This is also my view on the matter, rather CCP did it than someone else.

As it stands yes it'd be silly off this one offer, It was more for a future observation. If CCP keeps up the level of RMT action they had just before and after fanfest, it might appear a more attractive offer to do so.

Plex Prices are good.

With the more players we get, we may see a shift in plex prices increase due to more isk being generated into the universe. The more isk pouring into the playerbase, the more expensive things will get.

This is just how it works.

This "promotion" stimulated the plex market. It had a slight affect and plex are still around the same price. Perhaps a little higher.

As someone previously stated, the graphic cards are worth less than 20 plex. This offer was to award those pilots who have amassed a butt load of isk with something for their time.

In other words, it was a way to reduce the amount of isk that is currently in circulation in an attempt to level out the economy. More isk sinks need to be introduced and I believe the changes that are coming up will assist with this as well.

If there are no caps on isk generation in eve online, we will see Battleships in the hundreds of millions of isk and Titans in the trillions. Why? Because there is simply that much isk in circulation. Supply and Demand.

Whether you want to call it RMT or some other negative generic name, investigate the pro's and con's of said promotions.

Our Economy will be healthier due to this.
