I'm curious to hear from other PVPers and corp leaders as to what you think the concentration is of competent pilots to dumb pilots there are in your corp? This is targeted primarily to PVP corps as you can't fault those with industrialist in them. And when I say dumb, I mean don't listen, failed fittings, etc...

3% Very good
7% Good
20% Competent
40% Useful if you tell them what to do constantly
20% Useless ****
10% Brain dead mouth breathers

That's if you have some requirements for recruitment. As my current corp is quite small...this is going off my last corp of about 100 people.

Well i know from my own experience ( as a pilot ), that WHY a certain fit is "not smart" is VERY important.
Don't know if you have the time or the willingness to explain stuff to your members, but maybe that might help.

And uhmmm, if you've already tried that often enough, then kicking them out is a good idea, or maybe trying to get them to do other stuff.

If they don't listen and continue to fail fit i dunno why you would keep them in your corp.

depends largley on how well run the corp is and what the corp goals are. A dedicated pvp corp such as mine is going to have a large pool of good/very good pilots.

.

You can explain stuff and offer resources to help them become better. A few will take take advantage of it. But most are pretty lackadaisical that you literally have to toss your hands up and say "I give up" and just hope that they're not a complete liability during fleet fights.

Speaking as a recruiter who have literally screened close to several hundred applicants, you can cut down on the number of morons by having a standardized recruitment process. Ask tough questions and vet the applicant thoroughly to ensure they meet your expectations of a competent combat pilot. Though, there is that balance between maintaining a professional atmosphere while still being fun and casual.

What would be the difference between a dumbass and a noob? Especially considering you can play this game for 3 years and still learn completely new and sometimes obvious things.

I reckon about half are below average ... unless someone wants to play with clever distributions :-)

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

In fleet pvp the fleet is only as dumb as the FC. If the FC is unclear in his commands, not firm in his fleet composition, not strict with comms and fleet actions.. the fleet will fail. I have been in many fleets, and 90% of the FC's shout and curse and panic. The other 10% were calm collective and have won against bigger odds because of it.
Sadly I form part of the 90%, but understand this and leave FC'ing to the pro's, so put me in the incompetent category, but depending on the FC, me and my fellow incompetents never lemming, are always fit right and make good fearless bait.

As my sig suggests, you need all types in your corp. As CEO of Sudden Buggery, I expressly employ idiots and incompetent fools to make me look good. Without someone clogging up the killboard with losses and stumbling through wormholes against orders, I would be primaried every single time I came on the field.

By employing deaf-mute multiple amputee autistic basement dwelling nerds, I ensure that only I get the top killer spot on my killboard. Besides, if a CEO only employed elite PVPers, people would swiftly realise I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing and my ability to extort fat billions from their taxes would disappear.
