I think this is one of the best things to come out of CCP in a long, long time.

I have a crappy old geforce 285, thats struggling to run all 4 clients at once.
I'm more than happy to pay 10bn worth of plexes for a new gfx.

If I can't get one of the first 100, tough luck.
In the end, 10bn isn't that much.

Even if they had charged 15-20 plexes instead. It wouldn't matter
That way, theres a higher chance for us who can afford it, to get free gfx.

It saves me money, that I'd rather spend on my family/kids

GTX 560 is only about 20-25% faster than GTX 285. You would be making a terribly poor upgarde. Can't you people realize that non-Ti 560 is not a very fast card.

It's still an upgrade from a 2 y/o card.
And again. Its free, since I dont pay to play - and yes. My gaming time IS free - since I mostly play from work.

+1 to CCP for this idea. I myself won't take advantage of it because I had a GTX 560 card but got rid of it ( consumed too much electricity and created too much heat ). I sold it for about $75 USD on Ebay if I recall correctly.

I would like to see the same deal on AMD 7000 series cards or NVidia Teslas.

CCP should sell PS3 for PLEX, because there is no reason for EVE player to buy this console with real money to play DUST Bear

This!!! 100x this!!! I would speculate that every hardcore Eve player would take advantage of this deal. Sony would love CCP and CCP would make a killer profit. DUST 514 accounts would explode overnight. PLEX prices would freakin' skyrocket though. Cool

All those CSM members with their prior knowledge of supply & demand changes could do very well indeed.

ATX: The best of the rest.

If CCP actually choose some decent hardware for deals like this i would be jumping in on the offer in heartbeat

These cards aren't even the GTX 560 TI models that have decent performence. So they proberly got a very good deal from a manufacturer (EVGA?) with these outdated gfx cards.

Should CCP choose to make a similar offer with a Geforce GTX 680 (within some months of the realse of the card) for plex worth around double the market price of the cards i would most likely grap it.

This is a really nice idea but instead of needing 20 plex could CCP give offers for less plex?

I'm thinking something like buying stuff from the eve store for say 2+ plex. Something like a hoodie for 2-3 plex, the beer mug for 1 plex etc. etc.

And the shipping costs for 1 plex ofcourse :)

Nice idea, but..

What about RMA'ing these cards? If its DOA or such, we then have to pay shipping to return it.. and where to return it?
Buying with PLEX, does this mean the distance selling Act for goods is null as effectively, you haven't paid cash or had a credit/debit card charge?

I'm sorry, but having a store guarantee is more useful as well as the OTT price structure.

Didn't CCP just put out a blog on banning RMT'ers? Now it seems they are enabling them.

Yea, But ccp gets to dip into the profits on this twice.
Once on the ETC purchase, and then once again on the video card profit.
Your getting about 150$ and it's costing you about 350$ (and you can expect to pay taxes in some places!).

Wonder what sort of trading laws the EU would apply to this, Buying of goods and services have distance regulations, so all sales are not final.

The people who will be pissed off by this are the people who pay for a lot of accounts with plex. CCP is trying to get 2,000 plexes to exit the game. That's a LOT of plexes. 2,000 players for a month.

Time codes are going from 500+ to 600+ today and probably if people do buy into this crackpot scheme... 700+ tomorrow.

There's a couple of other legit ways that players get money from ccp using their ingame isk, I think the payout is quite a lot better than this 42% return.

It might work to get some people to dump isk, I am not sure about it.
CCP have made it clear that the "sandbox" is closed and that everything in game is theirs to mutate as they wish, adding this layer of "trading" is deadly and when it gets abused then players will have no recourse.

CCP makes a lot of money from EvE, it's their product and as such they should be allowed to do so, but it plexes* me as to why they would try to sell the feathers from the goose that's laying the golden egg.

I like the idea, because I still have a GTX260 and enough ISKs for 20 PLEX.

There is however one problem. What do I do with 20 PLEX should I not get a card? I pay for my subscription and do not need PLEX. Nor do I find trading with PLEX attractive to my game.

Can I buy one just with ISKs?

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

No, you need to do it indirectly.
Buy plex, reverse redeem, and hope tomorrow your one of the 100 that can apply (else you have 20 plexes that you probably overpaid for!)..

CCP do not (nor do users) want a direct isk->$$ scheme in place. Driving plex prices up will give incentive for players who would buy isk to do it using Plexes (thus driving real purchase demand). Isk exiting the game (only 10 trillion) would probably only strengthen the value of ISK and just provide a finacial loss to CCP.

My accounts are plexed and I made 25 billion last month. This is a good deal for me.

As far as speed, it looks like the 560 is very slightly slower than the 560 ti, and substantially faster than the 460; and I know from experience that the 460 is much faster than the 285.

It might not be cutting edge exactly, but modern video cards are very overpowered for most things. Consoles are still running on the equivalent of an nvidia 7-series.

I really wish some CCP employee could give some insight on these crucial questions:

What card is it exactly?
Where are the graphic cards being sent from?
If im (technically) not paying any real € for it, will it still be counted as its full price regarding taxation (that would mean about 30€ for germany sadly)?

From what country will it be shipped? Iceland? US? I need to know this because of the tax i might or might not need to pay.

And if you decide to go for this videocard you might wanna upgrade your power-supply as well to a minimum of 700W since your "standard" 450W power supply wont keep up wit this card
