So, about station environments...

A little bit of searching would turn up some info. All I know is they have 5 people working on WIS basically cosmetics for avatars and still some other WIS stuff. theres a thread that stays on the front page detailing plans for WIS just have to sift through the troll ****. Which youll have to do here until this thread is locked.

I very much like the idea of player owned shops in a MMO though even if it is just one more thing to customize. Customization is about the only thing SOE did right with SWG and I for one would like that copied and pasted in every MMO

I recall one night in a nightclub called the matrix, there I was... Mother of god there I am! Holy f**k.

[quote=Silpher]I know this comes with flames, but I don't care as it's a feature I am STILL looking forward to, however, the information on this has been... null? Ever since that fuckfest with Incarna, I have no idea what's going on with this. For all I know it's been completely scrapped

Is there any info at all on this? Are there still plans for player run storefronts and bars? Corporate offices? Gambling? etc etc. I was looking forward to this feature for years, it's initial release was ****** and now I have no clue whether or not the whole thing was scrapped or if I should be hopeful that CCP is going to fix the ****'all plan that came with Incarna and release something closer to what was originally discussed? Did Incarna end up being just a massive test of the physics engine they designed

If anyone has anything aside from flaming and acting as if you're the only demographic to the game, I would appreciate it.[/quote

I was looking forward to this promised feature as well. After seeing this years fan fest it seems they are leapfrogging the establishments and contraband, gambling ideas towards exploration and some kind of vague risk vs reward feature. Check out Torfi who is leading a small group of flame resistant brave souls working on avatar stuff. CCP presents on the last day of fan fest has some vague comments on plans and a video on it I believe.

They asked for feedback on if we still wanted establishments and then ignored it IMO. There is still hope in another couple years I guess..

It is really a shame there was a bandwagon vs establishments although I agree with Hilmar that is could have been rolled out much better. I hope it is a lesson learned and will be done still. Some of the most boring times I have spent in eve have been spinning a ship in station or a POS waiting for fleets to form and move out. I was looking forward to opening an establishment and doing exploration for contraband and selling the finished goods before CTAs

There is a mass exodus from SWTOR for many PvPers there now that 1.2 is a flop PvP wise and it would have been easier to capture some of that fan base if we had establishments in place IMO. Most of them will go to GW2 I imagine instead. It might be a good time for some marketing to capture some of that fan base.

PvP players from your typical WoW-clone MMO, never flock to EVE PvP. Those carebear PvP'ers can't handle true death penalty, like what we have here in EVE. They will go to the next big name MMO that offers consequence free PVP.

Actually most of us that started off on other MMOs came here because of the consequence based PvP.

I'm not ashamed to admit I started off my MMO experience with World of Warcraft, I honestly didn't realize how truly terrible it was until I played Eve online. Even the PvE here is, for the most part, fun. If only because doing it requires avoiding PvP or taking over an area through large scale combat. (Except incursions, but hey, nerf next patch so woot.)

True, but we are part of a trickle and not the flock.

CCP recently had an eye opening that the majority of their customers play Eve-Online because it is a space ship game about space ships in space... space filled with some sort of high friction goo. The only people who want walking in stations are a small, incredibly vocal, minority. Hopefully CCP will remember the lesson that they learned and put a bullet in whatever vestigial remains there are of WiS. It was a neat idea that got out of hand when certain members of CCP's management started seeing dollar signs and Euros peddling fashions to a tiny fraction of the player base.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

I'm all in favour of WiS although I'm not in a hurry for it as CCP have other priorities at the moment. They need to get Dust up and running before they worry about WiS.

Sure it's a spaceship game which involves blowing things up, but just blowing things up does not add too much depth to the game and blowing things up can get old fast if that's all you're doing. But EVE already has other professions that don't involve blowing things up. Anyway WiS opens up a load of possibilities so it would be short sighted to just dismiss it.

There's a place for WiS in EVE but however it is implemented it can't be allowed to effect the performance of EVE (not too resource hungry). Maybe have the door as a loading screen like gates to another WiS set of dedicated nodes.

I don't see the problem with WiS. If you don't like it you can stick to hangar view and never see the insides of a station. So as long as development of this feature does not collide with fixing and expanding the core gameplay I say go for it.

I for one will gladly sit in a virtual bar with my corpies once in awhile. I'll even fetch myself a beer IRL for increased immersion.

Also - I fully support the idea of a hangar TV - that would be awesome :>

Not going to happen. The game engine was based on something that was going to release in ~4 years, so until you get to that point and where projected computer hardware will be its not going to run with multiple avatars.

Everybody seems to forget it only exists to alpha test the Twilight Online game.

I am realatively new but I am willing to pay for a game that serves my needs. One thing that EVE is lacking is a social zone. I dont think that DUST will even begin to fill this need. And I have a PS3 but I dont play it. I like my PC and If EVE doesnt engulf me I will find a game that does. The inside of the station is a perfect spot for this. I am probably wrong but I think most of the issue with the captain's quarters arose from inadequite PC's. I stuggled with it before my latest upgrade.

Build it and they will come. Some at least and some would stay once they realize what they have been missing. A bunch of people have started this game and couldn't handle figuring it out. This has been addressed some and ya gotta throw somethings at people that they are used to sometimes so they can see the big picture later.
