Hey guys, thanks in advance for any help. This character is 3 days old. I played for a short while on a different character a long time ago, but I didnt learn much and didnt stick with the game so im basically new.

I plan on doing combat in Caldari ships. Both Mission running and PvP are appealing to me. Im thinking a lot about how to use my first remap wisely. At first I thought about doing Perception/Willpower, so that my missile and ship skills would train fast enough so that I could use nicer ships as soon as possible. After more thought, I realized my skills like Electronics/Engineering would be horrible and slow to train in that case so I considered Perception/Intelligence. I do have 3 remaps total so it might just be better to specialize Intelligence/Memory and then Perception/Willpower. Would it be wise to blow them all in a row like that? Itd be quicker but then again since id be suck on Int/Mem for awhile id not be able to fly a decent ship and be kind of stuck in level 1 missons forever.

What do you guys think is better? A general Int/Per build or doing 2 specialized sets in a row? Should I do like Int/Mem and not worry about the fact that im training some of my missile skills slowly and try to focus on as many support skills as possible?

you're three days old, start with the Per/int set up. train the main stuff to 3 or 4 then start with the per/wil or int/mem that will take you long enough to get a new remap and then you can do the other one.

starting with a specialized abillity set is only useful when you're not playing with the character.

So max Per, rest in Int? That sounds good because I get to actually play since my skills spread evenly.

Train Cybernetics up to get +3's in to aid training also

You can do specialized remaps initially or I would suggest doing a generic remap. balance out your points in int/mem/per/wil using this remap train up some ship and support skills into the 3 to 4 range then once you can use a decent amount of stuff remap. When you remap hopefully you know what you want to do in the game and remap to fit that plan.

Your best off to do the thing you will do the least first.

So use your starter stats to train up some basic skills like navigation/core/shield or armor.

Then remap to per/will and train up a ton of stuff. Ships/guns/missles.

Once very heavy in perc/will skill trees switch to int/mem and repeat.

Purely an example but a good way to go about it for most sp per hour.

Hit me up ingame if you'd like some more help.

I'm actually in almost your exact position right now, although I have prior experience with the game and a very specific goal. That goal is to get myself into a battlecruiser capable of solo belt ratting in 0.0 in about a month. I've done this before with a 3 1/2 week old gallente pilot in a dual rep myrmidon so I know exactly what I need. The difference being that in this case the BC is a drake so I'm giving myself some extra time since caldari ships use both missiles and turrets.

I bought basically every combat skill I could train and got them to lv1 on the starting stats. I also got various things I needed to fit a ship to tool around with in lv1 missions while I wait. Then I remapped to max perception and dumped the rest in willpower. I already trained heavy missiles, assault missiles and medium turrets. I also picked up a badger mk2 cause hey why not? Now I'm working my way up to BC3.

After that I'll remap to an almost even split of intelligence and memory to train drones 5 and spend the rest of the time raising engineering, electronics, energy management and energy systems operation as high as I can get them before the end of my 30 day limit. Crappy capacitor and not being able to fit a ship properly are your biggest problems at first. After my month is up I'm going to use the final remap to switch to a more balanced set of attributes for general training.

While I wait I've been looking at corps to join. Had a nice long talk with a recruitment guy a few hours ago actually. He thinks I might be a spy, but I don't blame him. I actually do kinda look like a spy. Other than that I think it went well though. Wish me luck. Anyway, I'm not sure what your plans are specifically so I can't really give good advice. Hopefully hearing what I'm doing with mine will help in some way though.

Well, little more flexible than that. I usually recommend and even Per/Int split, but tilt it further to the Perception side the more Int skills you don't feel you'll need (say, you're only training one type of tank, you're not going to probe people down, etc). Fair warning that because basic skills include a lot of mechanics and engineering a fully perception weighted map will be not entirely optimal.

It's a small enough difference not to matter, though, so, again, go for it.
