Warp Drive Capacitor Changes?

I was wondering if people would be supportive of a change to how warp drives use capacitor. What I am proposing is that they use capacitor for every AU of travel. That way you wouldn't have to fit capacitor batteries on frigates to travel over 50 AU. Half the time when I enter warp and I don't have enough cap to warp all the way, I recharge half my cap by the time I enter warp (with Transports/Barges/Indies).

Train Warp Drive Operation to 3 or 4. That should get rid of your cap issues.

Warp drives do use capacity based on the distance that you're covering. As James said, WDO will reduce your cap usage for warping, also Energy Management will increase your overall cap available.

The formula for cap use is (Warp distance in AU) * ("warpCapacitorNeed") * (ship mass in kg) * (1 - WDO skill level * 0.1)

Since you're Caldari, I'll use the Condor as an example. Assuming you have energy management at level 3, it has a capacitor capacity (ugh) of 156 * (1 + 3*0.5) = 179.4 GJ, a mass of 1,184,000 kg, and a warp capacitor need of 2.68 * 10^-6. Fit a limited 1 MN MWD to this (which is kind of necessary for this ship's role) and it has a cap cap of 145.3.

So the maximum distance you can warp in this fit, without training WDO or fitting cap/mass mods, is 145.3 / (2.68E-6 * 1,184,000) = 45.8 AU.
For each level of WDO you train, essentially, you can warp 10% further. With WDO and energy management at 4 this same fit will warp 79.8 AU at max cap. This is of course still somewhat limited but I deliberately chose one of the heavier frigates with a significantly less robust capacitor. The same skills and fit with a Merlin will get you 212 AU, which is more than enough for the vast majority of systems in EVE at or near max cap.

Not really, this is not a good linear approximation, much like the Weapon cycle time vs DPS % changes

At WDO V, you can warp 2x as far, not 1.5x as far.
From lvl 0 to lvl 1, it is close to 10% farther, its actually 1.0/0.9 = 1.111 ie 11.1% farther.
From lvl 2 to 3, it is 0.8/0.7 = 1.143 = 14.3% farther
From lvl 4 to 5, its 0.6/0.5 = 1.2 = 20% farther

It is a really short train to lvl 3, which allows you to go 1.0/0.7 = 1.42857 ie 43% farther for an averaged 14.3% boost per skill lvl by lvl 3, and your percentage only gets better from there.

I don't have a problem with any of my ships, and I've only got WDO to lvl 3.

That the warp range for the Condor is so limited? Not really, but I was just illustrating how the cap use for warp works.
