I noticed a statement in one of the Fanfest sessions where they were talking about one of the countries being able to pay in thier native currency. I think it was England or Britain or something. Either way he had stated that they would be paying 9.99 a month. My question is...

Does everybody pay the same amount for EvE or do some countries pay less or more compared to other countries? I assume it would be impossible to keep up with the ever changing exchange rates so I am thinking everybody is paying different amounts. But I could be wrong. Currently EvE is $15 a month, rounding up the pennies, at the US rate. I am not sure about other countries though.

Has CCP put any thought towards reducing the monthly cost of the sub from $15 to $10? It would be one way to stay competitive in a market that is moving towards Free to Play more and more every year.

Yes, different countries or rather different regions pa different mainly due to VAT. US is typically by far cheapest, which is why most GTCs are sold using us currency rather than local.

For the record, 10 GBP is equivalent to some 15.87 USD today.

For quite a while the crowd from England were having a gripe about paying more because everyone was being charged $15 regardless of rates. $15 was more like $20 for them.

Just did a quick conversion and it looks like 9.99 is just about $15 US. I think we're still at least above the peso.

IIRC Subs and GTCs cost the same in € as they do in dollars - at current conversion rates, Europeans pay 30% more (but of course everyone who needs GTCs and who isn't totally dumb buys GTCs from US vendors).

*insert something about tax/VAT/whatever here being the reason EU pay more than US*

Unless I'm mistaken ofc.

Thanks for the link Nirnias and for the serious replies to a serious question from the others.

So I guess my next question is...do they just keep the amount even with the US exchange rate? That seems to have fluctuated a lot over the past several years for obvious reasons. Does that mean that for some countries one month might be a little more or a little less depending on the exchange?

I know that explanation - doesn't change anything about the fact that any European paying for eve with RL money saves 30% when buying GTCs in the US...

The VAT has NOTHING to do with EVE being cheaper. Thats just how Euros pay taxes. The VAT portion of the game is not part of the cost.

One real benefit for Brits? A lack of currency conversion fees.

It's not uncommon to have a few quid slapped onto a small transaction in a foreign currency.

Average Euro VAT is 21% (last euro stats) and some different taxes +customs that may or may not be applied depending on the product and it's origin.

Well that didn't take long for this thread to turn to ****. Seriously...I am completely at a loss as to why one person is upset at the other in this thread. Last I checked, we all walk on two legs, have two arms and most of us have a head on our shoulders. My questions were answered for the most part. Everybody pays the same amount with the exclusion of some tax issues with some countries. At least that is what I have gotten from the rage so far.

Taking google conversion rates I pay 15 euros = £12.26 = $19.44. Kinda sucks. Would be nice to pay the same as our cousins over the pond.
