Scanning the overseers - Works?

Hi,

Recently me and my friend got into an argument about the angel cartel naval shipyard. He says that we can scan the antimatter bs rat in the last room to see what kind of loot he has and if we are not satisfied, we can wait till dt when the loot changes. We can keep doing this until we get the optimal one we are looking for.

I never had an idea that scanning works anymore on npcs so i need some advice please.

The drop or should I say what drops is totally random and is not in the cargo hold.

Drops are determined after the ship is destroyed, not before. Just like salvaging, hacking, etc.

That's interesting because the NPC haulers in highsec can be scanned and do drop what comes up on the scan (or at least did a year or two ago when I killed them a lot)
I have never tried on a normal NPC though.

It's been a while, but IIRC, loot in NPC rats showed up on scans and I want to say their loot amount was doubled (i.e. scan showed twice what was dropped.)

I could be miss-remembering though, but it's not like you can grab a scanner and a mission and test it easily enough.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

This was the results of a Sansha rat I just killed.

Messing about with it I was lucky enough to get a True Sansha spawn. The scanner gave different results each time with a mixture of the same items (sometimes showing two of the same item) one of each of the items that had been on the scan dropped. (the faction tag and ammo didn't show on the scan during any of the attempts)

As just brought up by a friend the issue would be the Complex de-spawning after you leave? or are we talking about a mission?

Honestly I would say that this DOES work if you can force a repsawn (ie reset after DT) then you can go scan the NPC and if you don't like the drop just wait another 24 hours.

I think the main problem you're going to have is someone else coming along and finishing the site for you.

^unless it's an escalation

to the OP, this argument you had, was it your friend saying this can theoretically happen, or that he was doing it.

I confirmed it twice now, those overseers can be scanned. It does shoe the accurate drop.

I never had the chance to check it after downtime if the loot has changed or not since the loot was good both the time i did and i dint have the patience to go through the whole thing again.

I'l update if i get some ****** spawn and if it changes after dt.
