Agreed. CCP won't be intervening just because of drakes.

I'm using Drake as a marker, not saying it's causative. If the Drake spikes to 70m, nothing happens, if prices in general rise to the point where a Drake costs 70m - CCP will intervene in the market to prevent subscriber loss.

The mineral spike ends with CCP intervention when the Drake crosses 70m pu.

Why?
A noob with a blue print copy from contracts will spend the EXACT same time making a drake next winter when the drake is 70m as he will today.
The ONLY people hurting by a 70 mill drake and a 350 mill Maelstrom / Abaddon is the NULL sec alliance that do not mine.

Personally, I prefer to buy my minerals off the market then mine them.

If we get to the point where not mining is a major problem for Null sec alliances, I expect null sec PvPers will find another game to play, not start mining.

Nah, they'll just recruit a few miners...or bring an indy corp into the alliance. PvPers won't stop playing just because it's not feasible to do it in the same way they used to.

Even back in the day successful PvP alliances never brought in Indy corps (though I suppose it depends on what you think of ASCN). PvP alliances might rent space to indy corps, but they are not going to actually mine the roids on a large scale basis. With CCPs current policy about bot ISK, I'm not sure if renting space is still a viable option.

Lots of these so called PVP alliances have members with alts on their main's account flying hulks, freighters, etc. They don't invite industrial corps because they are industrial corps.

Plenty of that going on too, also plenty living in worm holes, doing missions and trade, invention, etc.
