Question Concerning EVE Time Line and Expansions

I have several questions concerning the EVE timeline:

1. How can I relate my character's creation date to the EVE time line?

2. Are the various EVE expansions occuring in real time (about 2 years apart), or are they taking place over many years?

Basically, what I would like to know is: If I created my character in 2006, was that only 6 years ago in the game's time line?

EVE time progresses at the same pace as time in reality, and events conveniently fall on exactly the same dates.

Today's in-game date is the 8th of April YC114. Yesterday's in-game date was the 7th of April, and tomorrow it will be the 9th of April.

Your character would have become a capsuleer in the year YC108.

YC stands for Yoiul Conference (sometimes erroneously given as "Yulai Calendar") - where all the five empires (Jove included) decided on the methods of interstellar co-operation between all factions. At that meeting, an ancient Earth calendar was instated as a neutral method of keeping universal time, with the event of the conference marking Year Zero. Now it's thus 114 years after the Yoiul Conference.

Just FYI, the Yoiul Conference took place in the old Earth year of AD 23236. This makes it AD 23350 in our dating system.

Thanks Jovan. Forgot that nice-to-know detail.
