So, according to various sources you need 500 Omber to refine it.
(http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Omber)

If you refine 500 Omber you will get

307 Tritanium
123 Pyerite
307 Isogen

Now if we divide that by 500 to get the price of one Omber Ore we end up with

1 Omber Ore contains

0,61 Trit (307 / 500)
0,25 Pye (123 / 500)
0,61 Iso (307 / 500)

if we use a base price of
trit = 5,5 isk / pu
pye = 6,6 / pu
iso = 82 / pu

3,355 ( trit ) + 1,65 ( pye ) + 50,02 ( iso ) = ~ 55 isk / pu

Why is Omber traded for way over 75 isk / pu ?

I don't think there's anything wrong with your maths - I'd noticed the same thing. My current working theory is that people are idiots.

A theory is something that has yet to be proven right or wrong.

The mineral value of Omber is not the determining factor for its trade value. Omber is required to complete a certain storyline mission. Mission runners buy omber rather than mine it themselves.

yep. also omber is a terrible ore to mine in general so its normally not in large quantities.

omber used in story line keeps the price up a bit, kernite is a better or but it too is used in story lines.

You can check the price in every region Big smile

There's a good reason you'll find certain things hideously overpriced in stations with storyline agents.

Ah, that explains why Kernite sells for so much higher than its mineral value where I am. There's a CN storyline agent 2 jumps away.

EDIT: and confirming that Omber sucks ballz. Worst ore in the game.
