is there a legitimate reason why active armor fit ships cant repair them selves while docked in the station?

in other words use there local tank to repair themselves as opposed to paying for repairs in station

this wont make the repair facilities obsolete cos modules and drones will still need repairing and anyone with out a local tank

ps:

i tried to look to see if this has been posted before but wasn't willing to waste to much time of my life trying to find so blah :P

Station managers insist upon you not having any active mods while in the station to avoid any costly misshaps.

This is legit. Do you have any idea how much damage a rogue nanite can do when it mistakes a station for a damaged ship?

Well, you see...

Your armor and hull reppers work via AI nanites that swarm your vessel, repairing the material they're programmed to control.

Can you imagine what kind of damage something like that could do if it infested a space station??? The whole inside of the station suddenly being swarmed by a bunch of runaway nanites turning everything they touch into spaceship armor??? Think of the children!!!

You can repair it for free, you just need to be willing to take a risk and undock.

If you don't want to do that, then time to pony up

There should be a rather awesome pic here

Why not institute a charge for shield repair as well ?

I say, ADD an ISK sink instead of taking one away.

In the beginning, all stations were of Minmatar design since the slave labor of the Minmatar knew of only one design. Unfortunately, rogue nanites would escape and 'repair' those stations depending on what race made the nanite, and this is why you will see different stations of different races in all system throughout New Eden. Scottie eventually banned the process and as a method to seek reparations, only work done in the station repair shops is now permitted.

Yeah, yeah. Well, I prefer that story over, "It is a game mechanic that is there for a reason, station games are stupid."
