Hi,
got a question for you all. Is there any nice guide about ship fitting ? I'm talking about guide that is not 3-5 years old and instead of just giving you some ideas of fit for some ships - explain this in a way that I could figure out myself some nice fit for ship I use or I will use (type of weapons, type of damage, range, crystals, ammo and stuff, advantages or disadvantages of some ship and stuff like that).

Lot of things I learned hard way (for example - turrets range and speed, type of damage or why I can't have shield recovery all the time or why you should never cross 0.0 sector alone... or that even your egg can blow up :P - you know - basics). I forgot lot of things because I didn't play EVE for quite long time and I'm still quite fresh in this game.

When I join some corp my friend had exact same ships as I but he inflict much more damage and he could take aggro from multiple enemies while I could not and I did much worst damage than he is (long time ago when I played for a while).

So can you point me to some nice guide (if any like that exist) about fitting and skills behind fitting ? How to do 100% performance with your current ship not because some guy post you optimal fit but because with right knowledge you can prepare one yourself. Something like that.
Time to learn some stuff for serious because I just can't stay away from EVE but I don't want to be total noob again :P

Thanks for help in advance. I reactivate my account yesterday and I hope to see you in game :) Say Hi before you blow me up.

PS: Sorry for my bad English.

There are plenty of guides some of them ain't even outdated. They are all rubbish though because the author is ignoring the simple fact that there are some computers near London that do calculations that are the game. If you don't understand the underlying math or better the rather Simple Calculations That Are, you wont understand the game. If you want to know how it works you have to find the formulas. Some are on the wiki some don't.

This lack of consistency is annoying and sadly quite typical for gaming companies these days. They assume that anybody who is spending money on their game must be an idiot (in most cases this is very true ofc) and as such unable to understand simple math. It's a sad world we live in.

Thanks for advice and URL. I don't have problem with math since I'm a programmer. So it's even better that way. I even started to play with game API and I'm building Google Chrome extension for myself to get notifications for my character.
I still don't know WHY CCP didn't include API that would allow me to setup skill queue, send message and stuff like that (or i missed something).

Anyway - this is even better than I expected since now I can build small program for myself that would make some more precise calculations for me in an instant :)

I would send you a beer for that if it would be possible. Thanks a lot!

I'm confused. I said something about API not only that provide information but also allow me to send messages, manage skill queues and stuff like that and you send me to character transfer forum...

Or are you telling me that it would be wrong since you can sell characters and people would use it to make them easy. They still can since all they need is to log in into character and setup queue. And since higher lvl skills need days or even weeks (and even months) to complete - it's not a big advantage. But it would be nice to reply someone in corp from a park or bar being away using android or browser :P

Joining a corp and just asking people goes a long way, basically anyone can walk you through optimal ranges/falloff/tracking and the basics of fitting a defense in an hour or two. Though, that said, a lot of the difference probably lies in character skills, which directly up your damage and defenses as well as expanding your ship's resources for fitting.

Basically what I'm recommending here is to find someone who is on the same general track as you (flying similar ships for similar purposes) and just ask them what they're doing. Obviously if you want the technicalities of how everything works the wiki is great, and I won't diss it, but a player can recommend fits in a way that academic knowledge of the modules and mechanics cannot.

CREST is coming out soon. Until then, EVE API is read-only. You are not the first complaining about that.
