The Jove are dead

These once magnificient and mysterious people were held with such reverency for so long they inspired tales of fear and wonder.

Just over a hundred years ago they gave us technology that was well beyond our understanding. A race of people in superior position giving technology to us barbarians who not to long before have tried to confront them in the battle of Van'kolth. Why give us the technology that could lead to thier demise?
To what ends or reasons?

The Jovian's genetic disease is a clear answer to why.

The Jove are a dying race and they no longer fear us more than thier own end. To ensure the balance of power they gave the technology they deemed worthy of legacy, and deny us the other technology to keep us from making the same mistakes they as a race have, instead of letting fate remove them with no protest to what we access of thier ruins.

Where has this technology lead us?

Immortality is a small concequence of it. War was the other.

In the never ending struggle of superiority the four empires have been amassing mountains of knowledge, playwrights of war, and fourtunes of entire systems. We have come far from the ashes of Van'koth the 10,000 capsuleerless ship disaster against the 7 jovian ships

The rogue Jovian battleship sank nearly 9 years ago the effort of 200 capsuleer captains

We've built ships with morphite and are mastering its properties since then.

We've built ships with sleeper fullerides, and making ships with capabilities in flexbility that would make a Jovian ship jelaous in the amount of coverage a strategic cruiser can accomidate.

Weapons like our titan super weapons have been a curiosity to the Jovians

And more and more incidents of meeting with jovians in the mordern times are ghosts or echos or forgotten memories. Everything we have seen of the Joves recently, none of it has been a living breathing Jovian.

CONCORD even has been making advances with their Jovian given technology their pod jammers are becomming more and more effective thier monitoring tools every more deadlier and efficent.

We are beginning to master the technology of the Jovian's own ancestors beyond what they could have done.

Sleeper Technology isn't enough to overwhelm similar numbered capsuleer ships

Then, since the beginning of YC113 Thousands of fleet updates have been made. Battleships used to not withstand an attack from a Heavy Assault Cruiser for more than five seconds. Now laugh at the HACs and shrug thier attacks off. Bombers with bomb launchers, Micro Jump Drives, thousands of nunances in minor software updates and hardware equipment has been showing improvements in combat and reducing how well we can engage each other. Combat ranges of 450kms reduced to mere 250kms now. Lock times lengthening, weapons being better resisted, then weapons being cranked up to counter. The list goes on and shows no sign of stopping.

Yet what equipment updates have the Joves made? What have they expanded with? What reasons do they need to? Death of thier race looms over their head they don't have time to upgrade thier ships.

It came to no surprise to me when early defenders against Incursions to see Jove space and now we're facing Sansha Ships built from the ashes of the Jovian Empire, whom are using Jovian space and weapon technologies to launch attacks against the Empires. Despite the use of the 'Promised Land' and the malpractices of Sansha and abuse of forcing living people into a pernamently watergraved state to make impromptu capsuleers to fight us. Its still not enough to take us on one for one in numbers.

Now we are beginning to throw immortality around with wreckless abandon turning normal people into unkillable soldiers, how long before even the common man has this? How long this once Elite status is that of commoners?

Face it people
Jove are no longer technologically superior to us.
We surpassed them wtihout notice
We are the authors to the future now

Maybe we are the solution, thier salvation, thier inheritors, thier legacy to the stars they where once masters of...

In the vain hope we may avoid the same fate that befell them.

that was a really good read, actually. I've always visioned joves as impossible to kill by us capsuleers, but you're right, we've got even better, even more efficient tech than they have, all because they wanted to engineer themselves and are now dying from it. Poor bastards.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

We probably are closer to Jove tech than most would expect...I wouldn't say we've surpassed it though, I mean have you seen what a single one of their ships can do to fleets of ours?

That was years ago.

Can you see what one of our mordern fleets can do now?

Yes, we have advanced since then. But remember that was just a few of their ships, and I don't doubt they've been advancing their technology too (if not in the area of "not dying of a genetic disease", then almost certainly in ships). Given equal numbers, and modern ships of both sides - plus any support technology they have (off-grid remote repairs, maybe, or cloaking that doesn't need to be shut off to target things), I'm pretty sure the capsuleers would come off worse.

Jove where from the ashes of the sleeper empire.
As jovians are to us is sleepers are to them.

Remember in that time we managed to recover a Terran weapon and use it. Who knows how much knowledge KNOWING such weapons had exist could cause empires to do for thier research goals?

Nova has got a point.... thanks to regular updates of EvE online, the four empire's tech is accelerating much faster than Jove tech has canonically.

However we all know that if the devs want the Jove to remain superior they can pull something out of their asses and say like "Turns out capsuleer tech was actually used to spy on the four empires, and now the Jove have everything you do, except better!"

jove tech is still better but people still think 1 jove battleship can take out 30 amarr BS.... its just false.
the only real super superior ship in the jove fleet is their motherships, and they only have like 3.
the only real fight jovians won vs amarr was because of the BS practice of "no retreat" so they all sat there and died from mothership DDs and frigs they couldn't track.
with the improvements in.. well.. everything even slavematars could take on joves.

If thats the case I think they would rather analyze our genetics, looking for the clue to cure thier disease.

Die a little slower,

This is progress.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Back in the old days I "almost" saw a Jovian ambassador... but then he blew up in an experimental teleporter malfunction and scattered his body parts into hanger bays across New Eden.

Obviously the Jove are losing their edge.
