I'm not sure, but you've already lost this debate. Can I get some constructive criticism from someone else now? :L

Won't you at least thank me for bumping your thread?

Mission accomplished? I'm like an American Space Shuttle, I start of beautiful and halfway through launch I explode into tiny fragments of hot metal.

This was just a CFC plot to stop CCP ever seeing this idea, wasn't it? :tinfoil:

Your idea is interesting, but I think it would be more interesting if you could figure out a way to work kittens into it.

More seriously, if it worked over a portion of a system instead of the whole thing it would be completely awesome.

That portion idea doesn't stop the supercap blob, though, just delays it as they have to warp things in.

I had an idea for something like this, but it would be a module for a particular ship (like a new T2 battlecruiser) that would prevent cynos from opening in its area of effect, which would be a bubble of around 100km. This means you could still get cap ships on grid but you cant insta hot drop people who are prepared for it.
It would not close cynos that are already open in its area of effect, just prevent new ones from opening.

You could also script it and make it a targeted module that would prevent anyone from coming through the cyno that you're targeting (or the cyno of the ship you're targeting)

this would add a great level of strategy to fleet battles, because it would allow a FC to possibly trap half a fleet on the other side of a cyno if they're being directly hotdropped on. It would cause fleets to choose where to deploy their cynos to prevent being trapped half in half out.

This is a nice idea, but the problem is, Tracking Titan takes what it wants. Tracking Titan is badass. Tracking titan can blap **** from miles away - and don't even get started on carrier drone range...

I could only accept if it is an AoE cyno bubblestyle jammer. Essentially a block to the cyno into a middle of a fleet without being a 100% annoyance. Counter titan hotdrop.

Still doesn't stop the problem of dropping a bajillion titans into a system and bashing an outpost or something while the owners are the least inactive.

well the range is negotiable . . . you could make it 50km base + 50km per level of cyno dictors. for a total of 300km

Why not take it to an AU or so? Force titans to have to warp in to a battle and get caught in bubbles or something.

Thats why they have reinforced timers . . . it doesnt matter how fast you can burn down a structure into RF, the battle happens when it comes back out, and if the owners are AFK, what prevents the subcap fleet from blowing up the mobile cyno jammer and then bringing in the titans?

Nothing at all, but the mobile cyno jammer prevents a fleet of titans being dropped on a small alliance trying to grab some of their own sov. The only current way to anchor a cyno jammer is to have held strategic sov for 35 days - a little unfair if this alliance can have titans dropped on them and have their fleets, structures and TCUs decimated within hours, no? Reinforced timers just mean that the titan fleet has to be dropped twice.

But your suggestion does nothing to fix this. your complaint was that titans could be dropped on their structures when the alliance is AFK and thus give the aggressor an easy win. a "mobile cyno jammer" does nothing to correct this as they will just blow IT up too when the alliance is AFK

Additionally, with the new titan changes, it looks like titans arent going to be an issue for subcap fleets anyway. If you cant defend against their cap fleet, you cant defend against their subcap fleet either.

Has been addressed before, and point of view from a cap pilot/nullsec. For a cap fleet, it isn't a big deal to come in off grid and warp in. In fact, would be alot more interesting for both sides. Ranged engagements are always more interesting. The really nice part will come to defenders. Been on both sides of the titan bridge, they are pretty blah so that is where it will be the best. With the changes to titans bridging in.

Here's the issue I have with it: bring your own caps in, light the cynojammer, enemy can't bring in reinforcements. It makes for an unbalanced fight when one side can bring in all the caps they want (including triage carriers to rep everyone up) and then block the enemy from doing the same.

Actualy all you need to do is put some target painters on supercarriers. Still blaps cruisers.
