It's kind of sad that many people who play EVE care that much about a video game that they are afraid to share their own opinion from their main fake self.

This is another completely short sighted view bording on complete stupidity. Didn't the recent event of mitanni teach people anything?

People don't want to post with their main because some drunken, big mouth, sociopath will feel it is their mission in life to track someone down in game and grief them continually simply because they were offended *sniff* with a forum posting. Or even to threaten them in real life how they are going to "find you" as "we have our ways"...

There is simply too many fuctards in game, that is all...

I'm an alt. Since I undock this toon, this is also a main.

Truly useless whining imho. Read the message and respond to it. If you're interested in political crap, contact alliance/corp diplomats.

And yes, there's a lot of pointless threads and posts in this forum. This could very well be one of them. I'll leave it up to the individual reader whether that applies to this post or this thread as well.

Posting here to confirm this is my alt for posting.

I'd like to keep playing a game I enjoy without a whole alliance trying to make my life in space a living hell just because I say something on the forums they might not like.

Best example for this argument would be recent events.

Oh... and I just love the argument: Post with your main or nothing you say is important. <-- I always fall for that line and end up posting with my main..... NOT!Roll

Hi, I'm Khergit, and I'm an anonymous alt ('AA').

You could look at it as meta-gaming. In an ideal MMO society, everything would be home-grown within the game and everybody would have an accountable persona. Like, to build a mighty corp, you'd have to be a viking chieftain building a following of house karls based only on their trust in you to provide rings and booty. But no, we have Goons, Dreddit, Pandemic, etc. blobbing from outside the game with ready-made hordes. Meta-gaming. And we have people able to spend real dollars on PLEX and GMT to instantly put 100s of millions of isk in their wallets. Instead of having to earn it based on their wits and labor in-game. More meta-gaming. Not a perfectly fair and accountable system by any means.

So if people want to meta-game and use an anonymous posting alt, it's as fair as anything else. I used my previous anonymous alt (Willard Mitt Romney) to propagandize against a certain CSM candidate. A hopeless cause, I knew, and he won anyway. But the idea was to jibe his alliance and to try to get its members to say dumb arse, illogical stuff. Stuff that they couldn't defend in public debate. Which they did. Which (just a little) put a dent in their cockiness and public prestige. Chicken **** to use an anonymous alt to do that? Yes. But no more chicken **** than building a huge corp based on out-of-game forums or whatever. Or using real money to buy isk and get an in-game advantage over other people.

Wrong and you knows it.
Goons are unique. Most alliances will emorage if thier members post here with thier mains. Most alliances see the forums as free intell to CCP, the enemy.

if you're in an alliance that prohibits you from posting on eve-o you should jump ship

I agree with you 100% you should jump ship aswell. It just seems like goons are only allowed to post the same opinions as the (let me quote Beekeeper Bob) Queen Bee has.

It honestly makes me feel like you are all a bunch of bots with the same personality. I imagine its a goon rule for posting in forums that you all have to seem unified, but your right if an alliance prohibits you from publicly speaking your own opinions you should find a new corp/alliance.

I recall one night in a nightclub called the matrix, there I was... Mother of god there I am! Holy f**k.

It's called a hive-mind, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

I usally write one of these and then change it a month later when I reread it and decide it sounds stupid.

It's about credibility. An anonymous posting alt has none.

Sure you can say that the argument should be judged on it's merit alone but so many of the arguments we're talking about are a matter of opinion and when it comes to weighing the value of an opinion on a controversial manner it's useful to have some idea of whether or not it's proponent has any relevant experience on the matter.

Someone who can point to their bonifides as evidence of their competence to discuss something automatically gain credibility vs those who do not. This doesn't mean that their argument isn't absolute crap but there is a higher likely hood of a superior crap opinion vs the person who is likely just talking out their backside.
.

In the end though what it comes down to is this.

If you don't take your opinion seriously enough to stand behind it with your main, why should anyone else?

This is another reason, why people hide behind alts. 2 days after this post was made. The character it was aimed at WD us. Coincidence?. I would imagine this happens quite alot. People take forum discussions to seriously and want retribution for anyone who disagrees or stands up to them.

You are protecting your ingame character. Cowardly? perhaps. But you can thank people that react to forum posts in game, for it happening.

You shouldn't call out the alt. Give merit to what they say. Who they say it on is irrevalent. It is what they say that matters.
