What I find funny is when people discount a poster's opinion because they're an "0.0 mission alt". Surely then, the 0.0 player they're a mission alt of knows what goes down in 0.0? Being an alt doesn't mean you don't have access to the knowledge and experience of the main- you're still the same person IRL.

IMO, it doesn't matter who you are, but what you say.

It may not be usual thing but I make my posts as a dude behind keyboard, not as an eve role-play toon,

I like the bad posting argument. Its important to know the source. I'm constantly being fooled by children that are trying to sound like their parents and giving more credibility to people than they deserve. There really should be an account age with our characters so we know at least what kind of game maturity we are trying to communicate with. THe character Bazzar kinda fudges the age thing so you can't count on character age of the main

I enjoy eve once I find some real peers. Then it becomes sharing experiences instead of posturing.

Another bad part about alts is you don't really get to know anybody unless they are consistent with the character they are posting with. I can laugh like crazy if its a bad post from someone I like

I agree with the alliance thing. I really see no reason to disrupt others gameplay by being a spokesperson for your alliance. We have diplomats for that. why make their job harder?

The problem being, when you double wrap your identity, no one knows if you are indeed a 0.0 mission alt, or just some dweep with no clue.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

What possible difference does it make if all you're seeing is the content of a forum post?

Eh. Fair enough.

I, myself, like to be able to check the bone fides of posters, so when I see someting that looks outrageous, I can adjust for windage.

Hi. I'm Esan Vartesa. Yes, that is a pseudonym that I use in Eve Online.

But in Eve, I am Esan Vartesa. In Eve, you can chase Esan down, gank him, wardec him, grief him, etc.

So while Esan protects the real person controlling him, all value and accomplishments in Eve are entirely invested in him. As such, there is risk in being a total ******.

Hi, I'm NPC-corp alt 274408. Yes, that is a pseudonym of a pseudonym.

In Eve, I'm not actually NPC-corp alt 274408. That character has never actually undocked, so you can't chase him down, gank him, wardec him, grief him, etc.

So while I protect some other character that in turn protects the real person controlling him, all investments and accomplishments in Eve are in no way invested in NPC-corp alt 274408. As such, there is no risk in being a total ******.

This is Eve. No risk without reward.

It's very American to refuse to have a discussion with someone you can't threaten with violence.

You know why they put the First Amendment in the Constitution?

Cause the semi-decent founders knew what kind of a*** the imported English Gentry were and how they never met a speech restriction they didn't like... except when insulting foreigners.

It took the English Gentry a few years.. like 9 or 12, I can't bother to look it up... to get Congress pass extreme anti-speech laws. Gross violations of the Constitution that they were.

The other part is most of the time the sockpuppets are posting contentious or things against gameplay. Somebody using multiple sockpuppets can use it to make a situation more volatile. Is why I post as my main. When I say something in forums, people know where I am coming from, and also should people want to debate, I can say take it to me in game.

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

or so the ppl on the forums cant rebuke the argument and take in into game, punishing the character/corp/alliance for what he said out of game

(kinda sounds familiar really)

In other words a player can shoot their mouth off and not have to face the consequences of their actions. Case in point: The quote in the OP was directed at an alt who is calling out pvp'rs and calling them losers, and yet he hides behind anonymity while doing so. Do you see the irony in such an action?

So speech is actions now?

And is anyone surprised that discourse in American has declined to feral grunts? How could anything else happen when the penalty for words is being attacked by rabid animals?

This includes fired from job/blacklisted/property destruction, you know, the normal stuff.

And then foolish people actually believe "conventional wisdom"... as if it were arrived at by debate and not threats!

I try to avoid talking to people who mix things like alt posting and world governments/conspiracies. Please remove me from your calling list.

Yes, yes, grunt and grunt and snarl. Followed by proudly marching off the stage since you can't actually threaten me effectively.

And now propaganda is conspiracy. I mean really. You guys are just so annoying. Yes, American government engages in non-stop propaganda by intimidation. Obviously. I mean really.

"Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."-George II

See? All right out in the open. The fangs are bared and right in your face. "They couldn't keep their threats a secret." Well, no, they don't! Google that phase, thousands of hits. I don't see the "secret" part of this "conspiracy". I see the deliberate intimidation. I see the fang-bared snarl for all the world to see. But I do not really see the "secret".

And looking at the Mittani threads it's rather obvious this trait has been noticed by American Goons and copied.

The Mittani can't shut up about how all hit critics need to line up to be harassed out of the game. Cause if they were REAL MEN they'd let him harass them into silence. Fangs bared. He even went after the Massively guy.

Yeah. I got it.

Most alliances have some standards. In order to uphold them, most discourage their members posting in this cesspit on their mains. It's kind of like local smack.

I've seen plenty of people getting kicked and kicked some myself for shitposting on their mains because it reflects badly on the entire alliance.

...yah. You wouldn't want anyone to think you were morons. Big smile

Well - this is my posting main with its own posting corp.

LCO total SP: 64k, morons. member count: 1.

And there is the crux. This to is my posting main. Yes he is an NPC Alt, but he is the NPC alt that is always used - for a while he was the highest SP alt that I had active, thus he was my main for a while as well, but he is an NPC alt...

Yet you had enough of an opinion to post here an opinion that shows if you used the same on both cases that he should be banned... after all that would be along the lines of "dont write checks yer ass cant cash"

And he was banned. But that was between him and CCP. I wasn't at fanfest, I'm not affiliated with either party in question, and to my knowledge I stayed out of every Mittani thread. But in accordance to my beliefs, he did use his main, hell he used his mains main, and he faced the repercussions of his actions. You can say that I agree with the process of action and reaction, which from what I can tell is still in effect even as we speak. But unless I am hired by any parties I remain neutral.

It's part of feeling responsible I guess. You don't want your corporation or alliance get into heat of your silly posting skills because you felt like to ridicule somebody or just spam the forums.

Still, you like to point out your opinion, without risking the above.

Hence you use alts.
