Just a mindless niche?

Still worth the sub at even 1.50 per hour. Pretty good entertainment value, really.

I believe my suggestion is valid. I think if CCP wants to attract new modern gamers, especially women, it'll need to examine alternative subscription or payment methods that caters to casual gamers.

I looked at the fanfest vids and noticed that most attendees were male aged 35+. Nothing wrong with that, except that Eve "Online" will develop a market perception of being old and obsolete, with an anitiquated subscription system that forces players to play. Rather than charge a time-based fee that discriminates against the time-poor, it'll be far more rational for CCP to introduce a USAGE-fee. This measure will eliminate heavy users from freeloading on time-poor, working people like myself.

In otherwords, end freeloading and introduce MT. Make everyone pay their fair share.

How about reduced subscription fees for the developmentally disabled, too? With a lower overall mental capacity than the average subscriber, they can't get as much out of the game, either.

The same person should probably get discounts at book stores, electronics stores, and just about every other store to be honest.

The issue here is your sense of value of the game is out of proportion to the investment it entails. Perhaps the investment component you're really missing is time, not money.

In either case, you do not get a discount because, essentially as you're telling us, you're bad at Eve.

Yes, I am time-poor. Paying $15+ per month when I'm not interested or too busy to play is difficult to justify.

With the current sub system, you pay and play hard for 30 days. It's like living on McDonalds for a month. As a treat it's nice, but you get sick of it if you force yourself to consume it for too long. An MT model would be nice, so I can login whenever I like, and pay for whatever I like.

You can already do that, bro.

Cancel sub. Re-up when it's prudent.

Moderation is key, right?

[EDIT: Another option which I would entirely support is a Training-Only monthly fee which would be much lower than the standard fee which actually grants access to gameplay, servers, and web content.]

When I first started reading you post I thought you were going to suggest something like an alternative subscription rate of $0.75 per day to play, as opposed to the current $15 per month, but I'm not a fan of the whole free-to-play thing. Especially with the PLEX system, which essentially makes the game free to play if you have the ISK.

The $14.95 monthly plan x 12 months=$179.40(Provided you used a credit card and no international exchange charges)
The yearly plan,$131.40

If you can't save between $14.95 up to $131.40 in one year, your in the wrong job or your priorities are so F'ed up you shouldn't be here. If the latter. Can I have your stuff?

Nothing, I repeat nothing, beats the bazar for instant gratification.

It's the holy grail of the Eve Trust Fund Baby.

This feature would enhance its wares. Think about it.

I work five days per week and only have maybe 4-6 hours to invest in Eve per week, and only if I want to pew-pew in some spaceships. Some weeks I prefer to spend my time doing something in RL like seeing friends or exercising. Yeah, very atypical of an Eve player.

But it sucks that I have to pay $15 per month, the same amount as a hardcore, basement-dweller who can sink 12+ hours per day into the game. Obviously the basement-dweller is getting much more utility out of his dollars than I am. This especially hurts if you choose to run with alt accounts. I can't really justify spending $30-$45 per month on a game that I might play for only 20 hours.

Can CCP look at alternative methods of paying or subscribing to the game? I'd rather go F2P and pay for "premium" content that I can use at my convenience.

Think of it like this; how much time for $15 buy you at the cinema or in the bar with your friends? I'll bet both are a lot less than the 20+ hours your spend on EVE for the same money.

Just sayin.

Oh, I don't disagree that it would lead to a massively increased supply. If it is $5 or whatever per account I'd certainly buy a good 10 or so per month. Spend a few months training them and ... well. I can imagine a lot of ISK.

Where's that fellow that was moaning about PLEX being pay to win? Lol
