Returning player - where to go? What to do?

Hello! I've just returned to Eve after a fairly long break, and well, I'm quite stumped what the heck to do with my skills atm!

For reference, my skills are here: http://eveboard.com/pilot/SabbyoKat

To be blunt, I'm really not sure where I want to go in Eve. Missions, I find absolutely horrendously boring, in no small part to minmatar's really not being that good for Missions (yes, I can diversify into another race - but I like being pure :P). Missions are in the end, really, a means to an end as well to gain wealth to do other activities in the game.

Production and such business sides, I have absolutely no interest in. Just too much hassle to be arsed with, hence, 0 skills in it hahaha.

Mining and such I did pursue early on for a friend, but that fell through. Though, I have debated on working on them a bit in the future to have a bit more versatility to a corporation outside of combat, though, I'm hesitant to do so as yeah. From what I see, corporations are pretty much only this, or only that.

So I guess that kind of leaves me down to Incursions, planetary matters, Exploration, Pirating, and 0.0 space fun.

As you likely see, I spent a great deal of time specializing into sheer offense (following the minmatar 'belief' hahaha :P), but also have most major support skills up to snuff.

What I'm asking now is pretty simple. With my current skills, WHAT would I be useful at doing? And if lacking some key skills for some activities I might be viable for, which are those?

I know this is very 'vague' - I apologize, but I'm so out of the loop, as well, google and such searches are turning up jack-squat for valid, current information, as I've seen Eve has changed quite a bit.

If you have any insight that help give me an idea of what to aim for with my current skills, it would be mucho appreciated. :)

First off: Nice toon so far. Your specialization shows and the time is not wasted.

You would be good in:

Shield tank fleets for Incursions, PvP, Missions, etc. (Suicide Gank!)
Drake, Raven, Rokh, Hurricane, Tempest, Maelstrom, Cyclone, Sleipner, Tengu, Loki. If you were willing to cross train that is.

Exploration might suite you. They are like upper level missioning. Good isk, decent challenge, solo-able.
Missions are less fun, but also have less time investment. You're never commited for more than you signed up for. (timewise)
Both will let you train PvP skills and earn isk at the same time.

I tend to think, what you really need, is an active corp of non-tard membership. People that always have SOME thing to do.

one option is a pvp corp like RVB

you can run missions only as needed to make isk and spend time refining your pvp skills.

If you are in a larger corp there is more chance to have some one on all the time and more things to do, this also gives you the opportunity to interact with players and find out what they do in eve for isk and fun.

Another option is large WH or Null corps... do alot of diffrent things in these corps so you will have more exposure to all that is happeniong in eve now.

Good Luck in your endevors and fly safe....

you could train minmatar subsystems and get into a loki. it's awesome for PVP as well as incursions.

I should buy an Ishtar.

You rock, Raven. :P

That's exactly the general ideas I wanted to hear. And yes, I thought as much it would be best to just find a fairly active, intelligent corporation and jump in and see what I can do to help 'em.

Only issue with Exploration, from my knowledge (from a longg time ago :P), was that anything in sectors WITHOUT gate campers (aka, anything 0.5 and above) it was a waste of time to bother with Exploration. Yet in 0.1 to 0.4 - I had the joyful luck of running into Gate Campers nearly every other bloody time I stepped foot in the sectors >.> Never did get iced - I always went near these sectors geared for such a situation, and well, a Hurricane with Autocannons fit to it and my gun skills, does a pretty number on folk who don't out number me 5 to 1 ;D (thankfully, I ran into only the 'dumb' pirates, not the actual good ones).

So I guess really, best thing to do is find a corp who is a 'killboard whore', who likes to dabble in various aspects at times. *rubs head* I wonder if any such corps exist. All I see are pure miners/industrial, or pure PVP'ers... bleh. :P

Man we need a multi-quote button >.>

Yep. I just find missions in a minmatar ship to be an absolute pain in my ass, to be blunt. Without high-high end faction gear and such, you often run into quite a bit of trouble/hassle in level 4's. Having to constantly swap all your modules, ammo, warp back in and out, deal with jammers constantly wasting your time, etc. Just a lot of hassle for so little return. Of course, with a partner or two, this would be an absolute breeze to deal with obviously, however, most people do these alone.

As well, before I left Eve, salvage used to be valuable and I had a helluva time with those little buggers that leech your stuff >.> that further infuriated me. Not that in the end they won - the moment I saw the leeches come, I would simply blow up the wrecks rather then give them free money. However, I keep hearing of some term when salvage is mentioned which I have never heard of before, which supposedly has destroyed Salvage's purpose? x.x (really not sure what it's called. I tried to google it just now, but notta. >.<)

And yep, as I suspected I'll have to deal with a corp - only option. I'm not afraid of null space per say. Simply hesitant if I'm well enough equipped/skilled to handle it - yet.

Hahaha, nope! I fly extremely cautiously. After my first day in Eve YEARS ago, and some jack-ass tried to pop my newbie ship in 1.0 space just as I 'jumped' to another sector, that really distilled the point of 'prepare for the worst, expect the worst' in Eve. And I love it. :P

The salvage thing you might be referring to is the Noctis, the ORE industrial salvaging specialist. I've also heard rumblings that salvage drones are on the horizon, but don't quote me on that.

Wow, that is a beautiful skillboard. Unless I'm going blind though, you appear to be missing advanced weapon upgrades? Your Navigation skills could use a little polish, and training BCs up to 5 for the upcoming skill changes might be worth it, though if you're really serious about limiting yourself to Minmatar, it might be of lesser priority. Honestly, at the very least I'd crosstrain to gallente, with those gunnery skills, a machariel would be a terror if piloted by you.

Oh and if you're thinking of going to null, train up for interceptors to fly until you get the hang of 0.0 life. Cheap, fun as hell, and you can't go wrong with having extra tacklers.
