Which manufacturer is making the best cards out of the GTX 5 series GPU?

I like EVGA for longevity, my old 7300GS lasted 7 yrs still works actually. Every other manufacturer averaged about a years life. Just my opinion, should mention I never bought top of the line GPU's so heat wasnt an issue the other cards were just junk imo. I'm sure alot has changed in the last 10 years though, but I trust only EVGA.

On another note, the GTX 560 has I think 2x the capability as the GTX 550 seems to me there pushin too much performance out of them which is why I went with the 550. Half the performance should double the lifespan but im sure I'm totally wrong about that. Just a hunch I have lol.

I'm currently using this:

Linkage

It runs eve great with 60fps on all high settings with fraps recording.I travel a lot so the mobility is preferred over a more powerful stationary rig. First few things I did was upgrade to 8gb of RAM and buy a cooling pad and I couldn't be happier with it.

I used to play eve on a XFX GeForce 9800 GT

I miss that card very much. Cry but it died b/c I got lazy for a while and didnt open up my case to dust it... and the fan got too dirty and stopped working.. and the card melted...

HP pavilion laptop
AMD Turion II P540 Dual-Core 2.40 GHz
4 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 / AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
1366x768 laptop screen
Windows 7 Home Premium

Do NOT buy laptop with dual graphics card to play games. My drivers are over year old and there is no newer update. (Drivers from ATI don't work on dual card laptops, so I need to wait if HP ever creates updated drivers for this model.)

Other than one nasty bug in graphics drivers (when I alt-tab away from EVE, screen is darkened and I need to do ctrl-alt-del + ESC to fix it) EVE works nicely, even triple-boxing with 2 clients on stations and 3rd in space.

having the client stretched across all 3 screens would mess with me... having the border inbetween each screen breaking up the gaming screen

Just done an upgrade this week...

Intel Quad Core i7 @3Ghz
8Gb Ram
Win7 (64)
GTX570 (MSI) Graphics Card
ASRock H55 Motherboard

The extra's:
x2 24" LG Monitors
Cyborg V7 Keyboard
Rat7 Mouse
Logitech G5 Headset
Samsung SSD <---- almost makes loading times a thing of the past Big smile

I haven't over-clocked anything, but considering doing that soon. I run 3 clients on max graphics (2 windows split-screened on one monitor, and one maxed window on the other). No problems to speak of other than a my ships sometimes warping sideways Straight

I'm very pleased with my set-up. Drives the missus crazy with the amount of money I've poured into it, but meh. I almost bought the new GTX680, but considering it's going to be a mid-ranged graphics card of the new Kepler generation I decided it's currently way over-priced. Plus, the 570 is more than enough for this game at the moment Cool

Ooooh, e-Peening, i can do that:

Noname Mainboard
AMD Phenom II X4 965@3.4 Ghz
16 GB Ram
Nvidia GForce 9800 GT
ATI Radeon HD 4290 ( Onboard )
ATI Radeon HD 3400 ( For more DVI Adapters )

3x 1920x1200 Screens
2x 1280x1024 Screens

Eve runs in Windowed mode on one Screen, Browsers, Chat, etc. on the others. Didn't try multiboxing yet, but i guess 3 instances should run fine.
On a related note: Sucks that i can only select 1920x1200 or 5760x2440 as my window resolution. Would love to stretch eve over two of the big screens...

lol OP is an idiot...

Card is OBV bad... no card just turns the screen black because it is "too slow"

Wants to build an amd rig (rofl fail) around a old as **** board (fail again)

Whole OP is full of wrong info rofl... never knew that you could run out of VRAM because of a slow GPU (rofl)

I fail to see how people posting rigs will = best for you...

Really simple here

z68 board... asrock ~120
2500k
8-16gig ram
WD black, SSD if you want to brag your PC boots up in 30sec
AMD vid card if you want driver issues... nvidia if you want it to work...
560/570
new 6xx when they land
NAME BRAND PSU

Done...

Amd is a waste of money (go google NO site will recommened them because intel beats them at all price points)

You really wanta know rigs for no reason here we go...

Evga p55
875k @ 4.0
16gig 99924 @ 1424
few 1tb blacks
evga 470 @ 700mhz core
pc power and cooling 750watt

why are u flaming because he asks a question ?

and amd is just as good as nvidea i never had problems with amd and fyi my 6970's are better than my gtx 570 even thou they are supposed to on par with each other

if anybody wants advice from somebody that has and does use both brands, nvidea seems to be faster than amd but when under heavy load ie 5 eve clients on max settings the amd cards perform better however when using a single client nvidea is better

And when i upgrade i will be buying 7970 over a 680.

and as for amd v intel

intel wins for me everytime

This may have been done. Sorry. Probably has, but It seems we need a change of pace from the people who just can't let Mittani Gate go...

So, Post up your rigs.... what do you play on? Any compatibility issues with your setup and EVE? Give us some fixes. Or just brag that your computer is uber leet to the max or what not.

I have come to the realization that my computer has to be one of the worst setups in EVE. I honestly don't know how my computer runs the game... Let alone dual box when I do...

-XP Pro
-Pentium 4
-2 gig DDR PC3200
-Radeon HD 4600 series <--- DONT GET THIS PIECE OF **** IF YOU NEED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN BROWSE THE INTERNET as It hardly can load 720 videos.
- 2x displays 1366x768 and 1280x1024

I run all settings on low. Brackets off. Turret/Missile/Effects on my main, off on my alt.

My GPU memory speed is horrendous... its embarrassing... Its over clocked and still under 1ghz.. It has 1G on the card and still runs out of ram b/c its so slow.. The most common reason I have to reboot is because my video card shuts off. I will be in fleet talking to corp-members and my monitors go black. Game still running, still talking to corp members... "Ahh crap, card died again, gotta re-boot brb..."

Building a new Rig around this board that my friend had

Post your rigs!

Umm, that isnt your video cards fault (Video card has nothing to do with video for the most part, lol).

That is the fault of your horrid lump of silicon known as a CPU (which is probably overheating). P4 was bad when it was new, and too hot when it got updated to Presscott.

My rigs, in no particular order...

Phenom X2 550 BE @ 3.5Ghz
HD4850
4GB DDR2 1066
Games and internet (full tower)

Athlon X2 215 @ 3.7Ghz
GT430
4GB DDR3 1333
Games and internet, mobile edition (mini tower)

2x Intel Xeon (P4 based) 2.4Ghz
2GB DDR2100
4x 1TB HDD's
Many random game servers

Quit misspelling NVIDIA, makes you look like a troll, or an idiot.

AMD's line of processors are nice if you want to tweak because you can get overclockable chips all the way down to the cheap ones. Though Intel did knock one out of the park with the new i5 series, cant deny it even though I use AMD.

As for video cards, it really up to your brand preference atm. Each side wins some and looses some. AMD wind compute this time around and Nvidia wins overall (not all just on average) on game performance. But the difference is maybe 10% in NV's favor in games, while AMD holds a huge lead in compute.

Sadly, my anchient HD4850 is faster than the GT430 I got recently for free basically. No loss on my part, needed something for my small case and a FREE GT430 is better than an old school IGP.

Guy with the GTX 470, you fail. My GTX 465 which unlocked to a 470 clocks up to 850 on stock cooling.
