The CCP has not changed "Burn Jita" thread

Once upon a time, there was an alliance of players that managed to all but bring Empire to it's knees. No, I am not talking about Goonswarm you unending rabble of pitchfork touting towns folk, I am talking about The Privateers. For all of you newer players who may not be aware of this, the Privateers (the old Privateers) were once the greatest scourge Empire had ever seen.

The year was (I Think) around 2007 and they were blockading empire and wardecing everything in sight. Their actions compelled CCP to overhaul the entire wardec system because of their actions, and their actions alone. You can still see mention of it on EVE Search if you look around hard enough Linkage Here

Ultimately CCP's "Fix" to wardecs was kind of sucky and not very well thought out. Something that it has taken them this long, a new expansion in 2012, to come around to addressing. Even so, it did fulfill it's primary purpose, and that was for it to maintain their vision of the game play. Since that time they have also buffed Concord more then once, and removed insurance of suicided ships for the same reason.

Now alternatively... they did NOT Interfere with Hulkageddon. Which seems a little Bi-polar, amiright?

So Why Interfere With The One & Not The Other? Is CCP Really Bi-polar?

In a word, yes they are. CCP's ideals of the game have been subtly changing for nearly a decade. All of it goes on behind the scenes in the closed doors of corporate offices. So if, and I stress if, there is a Jita burning event one month from now, CCP's reaction will be as it always has been. IF they feel like what happens interferes with their current vision, they will make new rules to counteract player action, just as they did with the Privateers and the wardec system in 2007. IF they do not, then they will do nothing, just as they allowed (I think) three years of Hulkageddon.

CCP's ideas change. Such a short time ago the stage was set to walk in stations and buy expensive pants. That was their new direction, and a mass walkout of players told them that would not work. So now we have pretty spaceships, a stunning game and a... I can't believe I am saying this... a upcoming buffed wardec system after so many years Shocked What all of that means is, put simply, ATM we have no idea what CCP's current vision of EVE Online is. It is always, and has always been, changing. Change is EVE.

So all of you propaganda spewing, riot inciting, pitchfork touting towns folk, claiming that a Jita burn will some how put a thermometer up CCP's ass and take their temperature, seeing if they are truly "the CCP of old". Well, you apparently never appreciated what CCP has always been in the first place. If they act, or if they do not act, does not matter. Because either one would be the actions of the CCP that we know, love and hate.

I'm going to take a break from the froums for about a week, hopefully all this Goon nonsense would have lost some steam by then.

Not really, no. Hulkageddon is too limited in scope and easy to avoid, not to mention it's a free-for-all event rather than something that just a few can join and enjoy.

You should probably look up the word “rant”. It doesn't mean what you think it means.

Angry over what? What on earth are you on about? Ugh

Anyway, no, pointing out that ignoring a player-run event with little to no impact on the one hand, and reacting to tons of people to be killed left, right and centre isn't inconsistent doesn't really qualify as ranting. So you should probably still look up that word.

You should probably have a look at the word “perspective” while you're at it. Lol

I don't know about the previous blockade, but based on Tippia's characterization I expect Burn Jita to be very similar to Hulkageddon: limited, easy to avoid, and fun for the whole family. So I don't see that CCP will need or want to treat it any differently.

The wardec system was overhauled because privateers showed that it was not designed to work on the scale they were using it at. However with hulkageddon, suicide ganking, etc things are working as intended. You fly a paper thin ship that is valuable, you get blown up and so does the aggressor. Don't make yourself a target is the best solution.

Pretty much. With the right preparation, the impact on trading should be close to nil; the impact on import and exports might be slightly higher but is still relatively easy to ignore or skip by.

I'm sure it'll catch a few people unaware, but that's what lack of awareness brings. In the meantime, it'll be a fun event with lots of loot and salvage for all (and some free pew-pew). Everyone wins — especially CCP, since they get more free PR. Big smile

Is it really that hard?

Money

As many chest beating hard core 0.0 pirates etc there are in this game there are waaaaaay more casual high sec lovin "pubbies"

Why do you think High sec is so crammed and 0.0 an lowsec so empty?

The larger group doesnt LIKE getting suicide ganked so CCP has to change for them

BUUUUUT

The smaller group are the game's core players and those this game was effectively built for

If they cave to one group, the other will leave. The game's population isnt so big they can say see a 2 million player drop and NOT change their course with what they planned (referrence to WoW and the stupid pandas expansion. They announced it and over the next quarter or so lost 2 mil players, yet instead of heeding that loss, continues with the plan to roll out the bad). Like this summer. People voted with their wallets and CCP felt it.

Thats powerful. And a two edged sword. NOW we have a CCP who are fearful of upsetting their player base to the degree they leave en masse again so they are in the untenable position of trying to appease everyone at once, which is IMPOSSIBLE.
