But the goons are actually the good guys right now. Everyone seems to be butthurt and/or jealous or something so you're all desperately grasping at anything you can possibly twist and distort enough to use against them. Mittani made the kind of comment you can't be on the internet more than 5 minutes without hearing and nobody that was actually present took offense. In fact, quite a few people there thought it was funny. Everyone pretends it's some kind of epiphany that sometimes drunk people are assholes and does their best Fox news impression and uses bullshit PC buzzwords like "cyberbullying" to fearmonger their way to higher ratings for their petty little rant. I just read a thread claiming Mittani apparently can't tell the difference between Eve and reality and possibly might be leading a cult that worships him as the second coming of Christ because he used the words "my people" to refer to his people. Seriously? Not even the real Fox is that batshit crazy!

Mittani made a tasteless, but harmless remark about someone who sounded like they deserved it anyway and everybody acts like he burned down an orphanage. The response was to make all kinds of literally insane accusations, campaign to get him fired from the CSM, release his address and threaten to **** his wife. As much as I hate to say it, you guys are acting 100x worse than the goons right now. It's was just a rude comment. You know, the kind that makes up 70% of the text on the internet. Sticks, stones, etc. If it had been anyone else who said it nobody would care. Everybody needs to grow up, HTFU and move on with their so-called lives.

I hate mittens threads, but at least in this one OP isn't an idiot.

It was definitely tasteless but not harmless, and in fact was illegal in some 1st world countries. It also put CCP in a very precarious legal position.

But it's all the media's fault, mittens is just so misunderstood, and everyone is out to get him. Shocked

I listened to an interview with Mittani in it. I don't think he is losing any sleep over the fart smellers and thier youtube grade commenting here in GD or on twitter or anywhere else. It's epeen about who can come up with the most original burn now. He knows that.

If it's getting to you, close the browser. It's burning you out. Serious, blame Fox News and CNN. Wall to wall to wall to wall. If you run the forum 24/7 like cable news it doesn't matter what the content is any more. it's overload.

If someone is so messed up in the head that someone being mean on the internet would drive them to suicide then it's only a matter of time before some random thing makes them snap anyway. Nobody can force someone to jump off a bridge IRL by telling people to blow up their imaginary space ship. Words are just noise and you're taking this way too seriously.

The thing is, goons have been pissing off people for years in all manner of ways (scamming, all sorts of metashit, the list is fairly extensive). Some individuals, those that don't treat eve as a game, have a lot of pent up frustration toward the goons. Now unstable individuals who have been, in their minds, wronged by the goons have an outlet IRL for their pent up frustration.

So now an individual is experiencing consequences irl for the in game actions of many of his corp-mates. And it will probably get worse, because the goons pissed off A LOT of people (and statistically, some of those individuals will be quite unstable).

Its a ****** up situation tbh.

In Florida it's illegal for unmarried women to parachute on a Sunday. In Vermont women must obtain written permission from their husbands to wear false teeth. In Illinois you can be arrested for vagrancy unless you have at least $1 on your person. In Georgia it's illegal to keep a donkey in your bathtub.

Just because it's a law doesn't mean it isn't completely stupid.

Edit: And how come my cursing isn't censored, but various real words are?

I'm 110% for Darwinism, but that completely ends at encouraging or facilitating another person to end their own life. Especially so when the person in question has identified themself as being suicidal.

I have a funny feeling that IF he did burn down an orphanage, you'd volunteer to be his defence lawyer.

I"ll tell you what - if I had been the target of Mittani and the goons - well that's Goons and like most people who play Eve - they aren't a surprise to me and for better or worse they are part of the game.

However the self righteous bullcrap that has been on these forums ever since depresses me a lot. Really is the worst of humanity all scoring points over one another about who is the most virtuous or the most outraged. Laws have a letter and an intent - most people even in this thread seem more interested in point scoring over the letter of the law than any intention. The OP has it right comparing it to Fox.

And while you are all applying the letter of the law - how is the massive, now RL, attack on Mitani not bullying?

If I had been the cause of all this behaviour on the forums I would indeed be questioning things very deeply.

I'm very glad the people I interact with in game are not like the people on the forums or I would have stopped playing myself.

Hey op you need to spend 50 cents and then try to inject those 50cents (now in a different forum) into your head.

Tasteless joke but... its okay right?
