Your reply lacks intelligence. Anybody's personal info can easily be found through all kinds of different ways, given enough time. As for The Mittani, CCP posted his and all other CSM candidates personal info so actually the blame rides on CCP.

Yeah very much so I'm up to the point of thinking CCP should shut the forums for a couple of weeks.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

He's not at risk anymore especially since it was back in November when he said it. He's already admitted it himself. Just because you keep repeating it ad nauseum doesn't make it true.

I'm not one to ~get mad at video games~ but this has done it.

Threatening violence, especially - in my opinion - the most heinous of violent acts upon an innocent third party is ******* disgusting.

And then I've seen people in a couple threads actually DEFENDING this. No goon defended what The Mittani said, we all admitted it was a dumb thing to do. Some people, however, are using it to say "Hey, maybe now he'll know what it's like!"

These people make me sick. Seriously. **** you.

So what happens all the time in the game via goons and the like is now an issue on a random "radio" show?

Because the CFC name shows respect, the name of fleets show respect.

The guy opened this all up to himself... he has been crying on twitter...

I mean meh... O well...

An eye for an eye worked well back in the day. I kinda like the idea...

You must have missed the vitrol posts from goonies that were forum banned. EVE-search on Harlot and Tiwanistan's posts in the two original mittens apology/resign threads for examples, because they were deleted here very quickly.

Or both.

Riddle me this though Batman. Where the heck are CCP going to start drawing lines now?

I recently petitioned regarding a Character linking images of bestiality in a well known trading channel. CCP replied and I quote "We can take no action because it isn't a CCP public channel".

So by CCP's own "rules" how can implied threats in the EVE Radio channel be something that CCP can act upon?

The EVE Radio channel is not operated by CCP. By the written advice I have from CCP you could threaten to ****, murder, chop up and feed to dogs someone's wife and CCP would not give a ****.

Don't get me wrong, these cunts should be hung up by the thumbs, but CCP is getting fragile and inconsistent because of their addiction to sweet, sweet Sony cash.

Maybe new "grown up" rubber faced Sony Goons CCP brings a happier, shiner world - but they are have a red hot go at ******* it up.

Is the trade channel you're talking about in-game? I'm under the impression the eve radio channel in which the threat was made was in-game.

even so, I'd say linking offensive pictures is a far cry from a RL physical threat of violence, and can hardly be compared. I remember Ginger Magician was banned years ago from making a RL death threat against another player in game, and was promptly banned, so I see no inconsistency there.

This is why you should NEVER use your real name on the net. Never **** off the herd

That said, I don't like Goons, I don't like goons because in EVE you must have enemies and I've picked Goons. I don't want to know who they are in real life, its a game, I understand to be hated in a MMOG like EVE is really fun, gives the play a little edge

Goons have to understand that their actions will bring their destruction in EVE, this will always happen, just ask BoB. This is fun, and the struggle to prevent this is what EVE is all about

So Chill, Mittens will be back in a month. The War will start. And we will all have fun playing or watching the conflict.

I give the Goons a year before they are chased out of Null-sec, if they decided not to take it personally, otherwise it could be Delve all over again.[;)

Disclaimer: I absolutely do not approve of threatening anyone in RL, not even "as a joke", and hope anyone who does anything like that gets permabanned immediately, I do not even approve of pointing and laughing at people in the game in order to make them bad in RL, and I do not approve of the recent Mittani-bashing threads that have popped up. Any behavior the sole purpose of which is to "harvest tears" (and those are always RL tears, no matter how much you say "it is just a game") is deplorable, regardless of target and how much they deserve it.

But that said, a Goon asking "Is this what Eve Online has degraded to?" is mind-boggling. You folks have tried for years to deliberately degrade EVE, to make it about pointing and laughing, and you have stepped across civil behavior lines repeatedly by e.g. circulating private evemail from people who appear RL hurt, even suicidal. How can you now be indignant that you have actually succeeded, and beyond what you hoped? Did you honestly think that if you encourage human beings to bring out the worst in themselves and go further and further in being tough assholes, you suddenly can stop the development when it suits you? Did you honestly think that when you feel that things are now assholish enough, people will telepathically notice and stop going further?

That's not how it works. If you encourage people to "ruin the game for you", "harvest tears", "make them ragequit", etc, it will become a competition in which someone will always go one step further. Maybe in your head there always was a limit to it. Maybe you believed that people knew what it was. But people are not like that. If you encourage them to be mean, they will be mean. And some day they might very well be meaner than you liked. "I never meant it to go this far" won't help then, if you never explicitly spoke of the limits or encouraged a culture where it was ok to admit that well, really, we are not such bad guys, I really did feel bad blowing up that ship.

As sad as it is, you lie in the bed you made.

The EVE Radio channel is moderated by CCP, actually. Also, the fact that any given channel is "private" does not exclude it from the EULA/ToS. A player-run channel is player-moderated, but when it comes to RL threats being tossed around, CCP will step in.

So you're wrong - while a player-run channel is not within some of CCP's rules for public channels (i.e. language, links, etc.) there are boundaries - if you link stuff that is illegal, make RL death threats or distribute somebody's address, you will not be logged in much longer.

So you're saying that the threat against external factors are the consequences of our actions and are justified?

Prior to Fanfest, people were threatening to punch Mittani, throw up on Mittani, etc. Why? Because they got butthurt over this game? An INTERNET SPACESHIP GAME. A GAME.
