Badger CPU, buff or no?

I don't know about you, but I always felt the Badger Mark II could use some more CPU. It's a shield-tanking ship, and it has 6 mid slots for a reason. It needs a lot of CPU to fit a proper tank.

What do you guys think?

If 937.5 CPU isn't enough for your shield tanking / EWAR needs, I hear the Badger II has 1250.

Go forth and tank!

Bad Trolllllllllllllllllllllllolol ???

Drake has

525 cpu, 8 high, 6 mids, 4 low

Badger II has

1000 cpu ,2 high, 6 mid, 3 low

Wonder what you are trying to put on ur Badger II.

I was going to come up with a fit that pushed the CPU past the mark, but after spending the last hour in EFT searching every nook and cranny for high CPU costing modules, I've decided the closest I can get is 1001 CPU which is only over if you have Electronics 0 (which nobody has). Confirming I'm a bad troll.

Here's the fit, if anyone's curious:
Lows:
  • Chelm's Modified Reactor Control
  • Cormack's Modified Power Diagnostic x2
  • Mids:
  • Pith X-Type Large Shield Booster
  • Estamel's Modified ECM Multispectral Jammer x5
  • Highs:
  • Deep Core Mining Laser I -or- ORE Deep Core Mining Laser
  • Expanded Probe Launcher II
  • Rigs:
  • Medium Ancillary Current Router I
  • Medium Ancillary Current Router II x2

  • With the old Expanded Probe Launcher I (pre-Crucible), this fit would have required 979 CPU. Maybe this fit is the reason the CPU got buffed recently?Shocked

If you put officer and deadspace modules on your badger I hope for the sake of the first guy to gank you that every one of them drops.

    Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Is there any way to fit a smokescreen cov ops cloak to it?

Interesting you should think of this. I noted earlier that, while it's not possible to get even close with the Badger Mark II, it would potentially be possible to fit the 'Smokescreen' to an Aeon with 8x Estamel's Modified Co-Processor if the new CPU rigs they're proposing grant enough CPU (a bit more than 10% is all that's needed).

So anyways, the real reason I made this post was to make the point that the Badger Mark II (and perhaps other industrials as well) should have their CPU reduced. It is not a limiting factor at all in the case of a Badger Mark II, as it is literally impossible to fit it to run short on CPU (barring covert ops cloaks). This is without giving it any CPU bonuses, and with the minimum electronics skill that pilots start with.

I think that the CPU output of all industrials should be reduced by 40%. This would allow them to fit reasonable shield tank fits pretty much unlimited, and in most cases they could still fit an expanded probe launcher on top of it. The CPU limitation would primarily only come in to effect when using an expanded probe launcher, and even then, more often as a result of the electronics skill being too low. I feel strongly that very few individuals would miss the excess CPU.

Why is too much CPU a problem? Because it becomes a pointless figure. All ships in EVE (except industrials) are limited by both CPU and powergrid. Standard fits don't always come into conflict with those figures, but the limitations are always there, further refining what you can and cannot do with a ship. It forces you to think a bit more about fitting a ship, and it is one of the things that makes EVE great.

How about they focus on the ships that can't even be fitted properly ( i.e Nemesis **** CPU/PG, Nighthawk needs more powergrid, and more) instead of reducing useless **** stuff?

Any boost that improves the Battle-Badger is welcome.
