Cannot launch EVE: See splash but no game

Hey folks, question here: (not sure if this is the right area for them)

I run EVE through steam. I recently purchased a new HDD and installed the game through steam's downloading services. After it was downloaded, I launched EVE. I saw the splash for the game but the game did not come up after it went away. The game did not come up to screen even after an hour of waiting (my task manager said the game's exe was running).

I verified the game's cache and went through a similar downloading process again. I used the 'repair.exe' within the game's directory to download the newest patch. After waiting for that, still no dice. I see the splash for the game, but it does not come up to screen.

I first installed this game with my old HDD hooked up but saved it into the new HDD's directory. Seeing as this could of been a problem, I deleted everything concerning EVE, unplugged the old HDD, and re-downloaded a fresh EVE install. The problem remains.

Any solutions? Thanks for reading and replying.

The usual cause of this problem is missing or corrupt DirectX files.

This can often be solved by browsing to the \eve\bin\directx folder and running DXSETUP.exe you find there or you can go to the Windows download centre and download the full DX offline installer file.

This may not work in your case because you stated you downloaded the full version of Eve and reinstalled it, but it would be still worth a try.
