So from what I can figure Dust 514 will be a straight console game on the worst console known to man.. No PC? No 360? WTF is dust 514 if you cant play it on Kinect? Mainly all I care about is that it will be on PC, could really care less about console games

PS. Ps3 = epic fail.

You worked this out all on your own? That's pretty impressive. Can I ask how you put the clues together? All I had to work on was CCP's several months old announcement that Dust would be launching as a PS-3 exclusive, and who could be expected to extract any informaiton from a source that obscure?

Anyway, thanks for bringing this information - and your excellent, original analysis of the implications - to our attention. A discussions about the situation is much needed and long overdue.

Dust won't come out on Xbox because Microsoft's quality control policies wouldn't let CCP interface it with Eve like they wanted to.

Dust won't come out on PC because it would be useless to create a dedicaced fps client for something that could be directly integrated to the Eve client. Or did you think Incarna was only about smoking cigars and looking fashionnable in front of a mirror? Are you that short-sighted?

Of course, CCP won't admit it for now, as that would impact negatively the PS3 sales, and they want at least some PS3 users to migrate to Eve. But the hints are there to be found...

It's not that CCP is using Eve subs to pay for development of other games. The problem is that CCP is completely ignoring Eve to focus on two games most Eve players don't care about. If they were keeping on top of actual Eve content and fixes I wouldn't care where my subscription money went but since Eve is suffering as a result of neglect and lack of focus it makes me bitter to pay for dev time on a console shooter that is destined to fail and a Twilight mmo that I will never play.

First of, CCP isn't "completely ignoring" Eve Online. That I remade my character using a far better character creation system, walking around in my CQ, incursions, fancy new turrets is enough to show that they aren't ignoring the game. As I said before, the issue CCP is having is not putting out more content fast enough, a problem pretty much every MMO developer has. CCP can put their entire workforce on Eve and it still wouldn't be enough. Of course doing so would only do more damage then good seeing as for example the people working on the clothes for the Nex store don't know anything about the space parts or bug-fixing and would be completely worthless at it.
CCP has around 600 employees, I can bet that most of those were never hired to work on Eve Online in the first place and where hired to work on for example Carbon, Dust or WoD. That's their area of expertise.

And second of all, calling WoD a Twilight MMO renders your comment about WoD completely irrelevant as it shows that you are clueless about the game thus suggests that you read up on the game, pick up their gamebooks or better yet, join a WoD group and play it. It will save you from alot people laughing at you.
WoD is a dark brutal world, Twilight is the product of a horny mormon housewife. In Twilight vampires are whimps and werewolves gays, in WoD vampires are feared monsters that are as brutal as it takes to ensure their own survival and werewolves are so powerful and fierce that even the vampires are scared to mess with them.

let it fail on PS3 and you will have it on PC a few months later.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I love my PS3. that said, I probably won't be buying Dust - FPS games are way better on the PC.

Plus the console is downstairs and the PC is upstairs... so no TS3 comms between the grunts + the pilots, at least in my case.

Xbox live's DLC and transaction restrictions are much more strict than the PS3s, this is why you don't have steamworks on 360. Since Dust is very heavy in micro-transactions, this is probably why it isn't cross platform.

Pretty much this. As well as security reason of x-connection to CCP servers.

Anyway i dont care that much. People who wonna play this will buy PS3 and play.
However gaining new players into EVE universe is quite disturbing. Since who
gonna say i want play it if they dont know about EVE first hand ???

Its up to marketing/advertising i guess...

Lets wait and see.

TLDR all of it.

But wasnt this discussed ages ago, and i think it was microsoft refusing an EVE online <-> XboX Live/Dust connenction?

IMO i would like it to be a Eve-PS3-Xbox 3 way connection, that would be everyone wins, but that aint gonna happen.

I was really disapointed and would have loved it on my xbox.

If the devs really want a long term life shooter, that will merge with EVE , they really need to do it for PC.
PS3 won't meet their objectives.

i hope it never gets released on PC. as both a console and pc shooter player, i can tell you PC aim bots run rampant across all shooters. they are a lot easier for people to find, install, and use. seeing as how DUST will be effecting eve 0.0, you better damn well believe that the hardcore sov holders sure as hell will go to any length to keep that sov. aim bots would be out within days of DUST's release on the pc.

Luckily for me i own a PS3 and it sits next to my pc so i will be playing both at the same time. Big smile

ps3 also has aimbot programs available for various games so your arguement is somewhat flawed

Which vampire franchise has more fans...Twilight or WoD? That's how you can tell to whom the game is going to cater.

In order to obtain funding to finish development they let Sony buy exclusive rights.

Considering that console games on the average last a year at most, they aren't really planning on EVE or DUST lasting past the release of WoD. That's my opinion anyway.
