Dear CCP, you just removed over 10'000 votes, comprising over 1/6th of the people actually caring enough to vote from the election.

I am one of those, who lost their vote.

You claim, and I quote your devblog http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=28576 here:
Quote:

Following a thorough internal review CCP has decided to respond to this clear violation of our Terms of Service

Please point out to me which rule in the TOS was violated. If you care to re-watch your stream, you will notice that the offender incited others to perform a TOS violation, which is NOT listed as actionable TOS violation itself. The offender did in this case NOT abuse or harrass the other player, he at most incited others to do so. This is NOT covered in the TOS. It is also not "a clear violation of our Terms of Service".

I - and many others - agree that it was unacceptable behaviour. But it is not against your current ToS to incite others to do something against the ToS.

You, CCP, decided to base your decision of throwing away over 10'000 votes on the ToS. As one directly affected, I demand that you clarify exactly where and when - with timestamps on the video please - which rule of the ToS was violated. Or come out and say that it was a unilateral decision you took and what steps you intend to follow up with, to recompense over 10'000 votes you decided seemingly arbitrarily to throw away.

I call this an election fraud until shown the "clear ToS" violation.

Yours,

a very disappointed voter. I naïvely thought you had changed.

CCP's a pi-wat now, and he ganked mittens for tears like this. Pirate

But no, more seriously, umadbro? Using a CCP platform to encourage this EULA/TOS-violating "make him kill himself" stupidity is entirely worthy of a ban. The PR damage was HUGE, MAHOOSIVE in fact. He had to go from the CSM, and if CCP's only way of getting him off the CSM was a 30-day ban, then that's what they'll do.

CCP has removed CSM members in the past for TOS/EULA violations. This situation is no different whatsoever.

Don't act like your vote or any of the other 9999 votes directly affect the people who actually cast them. Mittens made a mistake and he has paid the price. I understand that you might feel like your voice has been silenced, but I would much rather have CCP spend time fixing legitimate problems rather than spooling through hours of video footage just to justify their own actions.

your sweet neckbeard tears; they sustain me!

should have thought of this possibility before all you goontards put all your eggs in one basket.

Are you REALLY surprised that someone who has pushed the boundaries of acceptable behavior finally pushed too far?

hate the player, not the game!

alot of you neckbeards just got your 1st taste of how things work in the real world.

If you cared to read my posting, you'd see that I want them to point out the rule in the ToS that he has aledgedly violated. Directly harassing someone is against the ToS. Telling others to do so, is not. I want CCP to exactly define their ToS, since apparently we all might hang in much deeper if they start to lay it out as they wish and not as it is written.

You should petition for an answer.

As I understand things, such matters are between CCP and the recipient of their judgement.

That is precisely what I want to hear from CCP. "We removed 10'000 votes just so". As I wrote in the OP, it's electoral fraud.

More goon tears, tsk. I know you guys aren't too good with TOS and EULA's so here's help...

Courtesy of the EULA:

Quote:
C. User Content
The System may allow you to communicate information, such as by posting messages in chat rooms, on bulletin boards and other user-to-user areas (collectively, "User Content").
User Content that you cause to be communicated to the System may not (i) violate any statute, rule, regulation or law; (ii) infringe or violate the intellectual property, proprietary, privacy or publicity rights of any third party; (iii) be defamatory, indecent, obscene, child pornographic or harmful to minors;

Fanfest is a user-to-user area. It's a CCP event for EVE players broadcast by CCP to the EVE community via CCP's systems.

I was threatened with a ban for asking people to "boo" someone on the message board, that's not "in-game" either, but the EULA covers the usage of the message boards as part of the EVE ecosystem, which also covers EVE's fanfest.

Guess what? Inciting a mob of people to harass someone so he commits suicide is against quite a few statutes, rules, regulations and laws around most of the civilized world.
