faction market activity supply and demand

I've been doing a little research and i have discovered that faction npcs supply and demand certain items (show info/market activity tab). A faction supplies X item at Y price and demand other items at specified prices and these show up on market, both buy and sell, at an expiry length of 365 days.

This is the background to my research, but i am confused about one thing. why if a faction demands X is there not always at least one buy order at the specified price at 365 days and vica versa with supply? I always operated in an area where a faction is present and active. I hope this makes sense.

I'm not entirely sure I've grasped your question, but NPC goods are often bought in one region and sold in another.

Thus you may well find 365 day (the telltale indicator of an NPC order) buy orders in a seperate region from where you find 365 day sell orders.

They spawn.

If there was always one you could just run the same trade routes all day everyday.

Same reason astroid belts get used up and show back up after down time.

On balance trading in NPC is only worth it if you risk buying in low sec and selling in lowsec.

That is where the volume and price difference is high...

Well - prices are now falling - so it looks like 560 is the adjusted price - unlucky the greedy ones....
