Canon impact of Dust Survival mode?

Just watching the CCP keynote address, and at one point the question of a PVE mode in Dust514 was addressed. The speaker said that there would be a survival mode similar to 'zombie mode' in other games, but that it would involve the dusters repelling rogue drone invasions on planetary surfaces.

So I'm wondering how CCP will structure the Eve Lore of drones suddenly choosing to invade planets, and how this may tie in to us capsuleers...

Rogue drones are extremely adaptive and capable of invading space ships, stations and more. That they are capable of planetary invasions too is not a great mystery to me, on the contrary I am glad to see more action involving those soulless machines. And the possibility to blow them up, of course.
