Datacores and FW

On fanfest CCP talked about connecting datacores and FW.

As I understood it they were looking at making datacores twice as expensive (research point wise) meaning they should go up in price (roughly double price). However at the same time they should be possible to buy for FW loyalty points, meaning they'll be easier to get and cheaper.

Now I sit on a large amount of datacores. Is it better for me to hold onto them and hope the price goes up, or is it better to sell in case the market gets extremely unstable with all the new FW-bought datacores?

There is no answer that someone else can give you.

I did this once, predicting where the market was going to go, and my friends followed me. They lost out on billions. Another time I predicted it would go another place, they did not follow me, and I made 10 billion in profit out of 1 billion spent. It could've gone either way though I like to think I made educated guesses.

Here's a factor for you:

Speculate how much FW LP is sitting fallow. Then you'll have an idea of how much of an initial thunk the "speculated" changes will make.

For myself, if I were CCP it is not datacores that I would link to FW LP but decryptors.

I saw an interview with CCP Soundwave on Ten Ton Hammer and he stated that he will be pulling out his datacores and expressly said that everyone else probably should too. Id say that passive research agent isk is getting a heavy nerf. Get out now id say.

For the record, I got out of datacore research when I left years ago and didnt return to it when I recently came back (largely cos I forgot about it). Ive got no real vested interest in the subject matter.

It think neither datacores, nor decryptors belong in FW.

I agree that FW should affect the rest of empire, but it should be more on a economic scale like market taxes, agent missions, system security, station services, PI taxes, moon-mining permissions, available exploration signatures. Macro-stuff like that.

Not by simply artificially tying the supply of a keystone for production to it's progress.

If R&D agents hand out datacores at twice the current RP price plus Xm in isk and FW stores hand out datacores at some LP price plus Xm in isk, I would be more interested in knowing what the Xm is when considering what to do with my existing stocks.

Converting all your RP into datacores should be a no-brainer. The exchange rate for your RP is going to get much less favourable no matter what happens to the market price of the datacores.

Agreed, if anything I will definitely cash in my existing research points for datacores as soon as possible.
Maybe sell half now and keep half and see which half made most money ;)
