You, the community are now seen as the problem.

Yes folks you.

I originally answered the apology thread with this, but I think it really needs to be seen and said. There is now publicity all over the place about how vile the Eve Online community is, not The Mittani, the community itself.

--------------
Quote:
This game's player base is the pit of the human cesspool.

Quote:
Not that I'm surprised. Spreadsheets Online: Sociopaths in Space. It's a moral vaccum, basically 4chan with space-ships. Its primary purpose should be to tie up all the detritus of MMO-playing Internet into one condensed wasteland, the hell away from the games played by decent human beings.

Quote:
This is exact type of person EVE deserves as CSM chairman. No wonder CCP isn't going to ban him and also no wonder game doesn't progress anywhere - it's already perfect as arena for cyber-bullying sociopaths.

Quote:
With each passing news story on Eve Online, I am LESS interested in trying the game.

---------------

In your obsessive desire to see one man shamed and stripped of his voted place in the csm, and maybe because you were on the receiving end of some IN GAME stuff that happened, because in your impotent rage that the chairman you wanted didn't get votes, you have besmirched the whole of the community.

Guess what? No one is squeeky clean, if we look closely enough we see the cracks and the ugly truth beneath the veneer of humanity. You, yes YOU, every one of you reading this has thought or said or done things that someone somewhere thinks is abhorant and disgusting, most likely you have commited a crime of some size in your country.

What defines a community is whether it is quietly pointed out, dealt with and apologised for, or whether we allow our hatred to beat up the object of our hate, burn it and kick it to death and drag it though the streets shouting about it. If you were outraged at what happened, you could have petitioned ccp, or sent some sort of message privately. Some official channel could have been used. Instead you chose sensationalism, the chance to scream your utter horror that something bad was done.

Take a look at what you have all done here, are you proud? You shouldnt be, you should be ashamed of dragging your community around the streets with a burning tyre around its bloody neck, paraded for the rest of the gaming world to see and hate you for. Because it isnt now The Mittani they hate, it is this community, your community. Well done.

The Eve Online community looks like utter sh1t now, and I blame you. The people who chose to publicly shame our entire community with your behaviour here.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

Bullshit.

Any publicity is good publicity.

I bet Eve will see a small subscription boost from this 'scandal'.

We say the same thing about the WoW community...they say the same thing about us. Doesn't really mean anything. Frankly what I see on the EvE-O forums on a daily basis is nothing compared to what I have seen on many other game forums. Go try looking at Biowares forums right now. It's insanity.

I don't consider this a bad thing.

I consider this to be quality control.

We don't want the stupid ******* from WOW, with their Gearscore e-peen and their "what, people are MEAN? I'mma tellin' Mommy CCP on you!!11!!" bullshit.

In short, if they think these tidbits ("he mocked someone trying the suicide card for attention? That's HORRIBAD!!!") make us a cesspool, they wouldn't last 5 minutes in EVE and it's probably better for all concerned that they pre-**** off and save everyone the trouble.

He's right, we are all fallen angels who have lost our wings. We must look to our savior and repent our wicked ways. I for wrong feel absolutely horrible and I feel all others should as well. For our crimes I will be holding a kool-aid luncheon in Grand Central around 4pm. We can discuss things after we drink.

You're so wrong. The forum warriors are already convinced and those bashing the community are the same people bashing EVE in every media post.

There's not bad publicity.

Look for negative commentary about just about anything, especially anything that has a strong Internet presence, and you'll have no trouble finding it.

Moving on now...

For such a bad game, it sure wins MMO of the year, year after year. Hmm.

You're part of the community as well OP.

So, shouldn't it be, "We, the community are now..." or are you better than the rest of the community?

Eve has a "bad" reputation. It always has, always will. That's not been a problem with sustainable growth so far.

Re Mittani drama - he got hammered and came out with crap. Won't be the first or last time that happens.

CCP want to let seriously drunk people on stage and then put the video online then that's their business. Seems pretty damn stupid to me but CCP have done "damn stupid" a lot of times.

I dont follow your logic, if anything, asking him to step down is the redemption. Proof that alot of people are ashamed of HIS behaviour and how we dont condone it.

Sweeping it under the rug is proof we're the vile scum people think we are.

But whatever, look at some interviews/videos of Fanfest and see how "evil" the community is.

It depends on how CCP handles it. It'll be good PR when they ban Mittens from the game, not that I think he deserves it, I don't. But anything less on the world stage would not be adequate.

Although I will say, that such bullying just should not be supported, excused or what not. Depression is a hard thing. Been there, done that. Being goaded about it doesn't help the victim. Then again, most people don't realize the seriousness but, some can learn.

Don't ban me, bro!

This isn't true, these guys are NOT representative of all of EVE. AND THAT IS WHY HE SHOULD STEP DOWN.

What'd CCP's stats say? 66% of people are in empire. Most of them are having FUN with other peers doing whatever it is they happen to like.

These 0.0 dudes are the worst of the worst kinds of egomaniacal sociopaths.

As we have seen.

I really wish we'd get some better representation by people that REALLY matter. Not just another con job by people whose sole purpose here is to keep up the illusion that they are decent human beings.

10,000 votes suggest the community isn't ashamed of his behavior at all and wish him to continue.

This post ISN'T about Th emIttani, or what he has done. This thread is about the fact that by dragging it through public territory you have made the community look teh bad guy. And yes, I am part of the community.

If my neighbour comes to my house and threatens to kill my wife, I dont run through the streets with banners yelling he should be removed, I go to the authorities who can remove him and tell them. Running through my community screaming there is a murderer living here simply makes the community look bad, and possibly me locked up.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.
