Who holds CCP accountable for The Mittani behaviour?

We the community.

We have to speak up about this. I personally feel disgraced by such behaviour and the way CCP managed the event to the extent that it permitted such behaviour.

Did CCP have any moderator during that presentation? Any rules? It is unacceptable to have drunk people in a public event speaking to an audience that was not limited to that room full of drunk people. Alcohol in such premises should be banned, keep it in the pub, not on tv.

A public event begs for some rules, else you end up with people like The Mittani that seem to forget that EVE and RL are not the same thing. Hence the reason why we are here.

This mess only confirms that your actions in EVE really do tell a lot about you as a RL person. Being drunk is not an excuse for your actions. The Mittani has to go IMO, but this is for CCP to decide, yet I cannot ignore the fact that CCP (as concord) showed a total lack of responsibility. Unacceptable.

Also the apology from The Mittani does not fix the real problem (not to say it fixed his behaviour), CCP has to enforce some rules to prevent this in the future, a blog post/apology from CCP is in order.

The MIttani DOES NOT represent us, the community. This thread and many others are a proof of that. He should be accountable to the community, CCP should act in the best interest of the whole community not some half drunk space players. So this is a problem for CCP in as much as it is for The MIttani who should learn to respect life, in all its forms.

sorry, but it's not CCP, it's us. the playerbase elected him, including me, and he made a huge mistake to drink before he went up.

The end.

well, i know a lot of people wouldn't vote for him now if they had the chance.

maybe enough people would swap to two-step to make him chairman instead, lawl

I voted for him. I'm responsible. Direct all of your anger to me. I'm currently in Antem.

Hence why the reputation of the "EvE player" is now sinking below the level of "12 year old CoD player" across the internet.

CCP needs to put future FanFest streams on a 1 hour delay so their lawyers can approve it for public consumption.Straight

Considering that devs themselfs drink alcohol at fanfest in front of camera, during Quiz for example, you have no leg to stand on.

Thats what adults do at parties. They drink alcohol and have fun whatever the way they can. And fanfest is a party for players.

Deal wiz it.

There is a huge risk and a black eye for ccp though. Eve reputation was on the rise, it was getting out of the mainstream. Dust and promo are getting new players in. The game is getting easier for new players. Look at all the effort into the tutorial stuff last year. They didn't standardize missile names and afterburners for the veterans either. 2012 and dust really have the potential to make eve truely massive. 700k people were on the dust stream over the ps network they said. Seven Hundred Thousand That is over 10x the highest ever recorded EveTV during the AT finals.

Those are players who are going to look up this new eve. I know peeps I talk to about vid games, more and more know what eve is, or curious. I meet returning players and people interested. Shoot, one of my friends who played for a long time returned and fell in love with it simply because of the Tier 3 bcs. But what effect will it have if people go onto Massively or other main sites to check out eve and they see how the biggest people in eve grief. Think they will read about +2000 fleet fight? Thing they will read about the large pve incursion fleets? Nah, they see, oh, griefing... meh. That will get peeps excited.

I suppose that in US that would be disgraceful... but US is not the world.
In other countries we are not politically correct, and proud of it.
In other countries we do not sue each other over bull***t.
And we do not live with the polar bears, and lions do not live here.
FFS everyone makes a stupid comment once in a while.

And 'we the community' are not 100%.

Exactly, a combination of probably ego, the goonswarm mentality being surrounded by goonswarm peeps and the excitement of alright, am goon resulted in doing something that in hindsight, he quite honestly does regret and doesn't beat him up.

I do not like goons
I did not vote Mittani
I do not like grief tactics (outside of robbing haulers, but that is for isk, not tears)
I do not support Mittani's actions.
I am not part of the OP community.

In the end, Mittani is a player who agreed to the same EULA and ToS as any other player. Concequenses should be no different. A matter between CCP, the griefed and Mittani. Punishment should be no different than if I did the same thing. I am certain outside of my postings on the subject, almost none of you know me. And Mittani should in a show of fairness and that he truely respects eve and the CSM expect no less.

There is only one reason I feel that anything more than the norm for this situation should happen. That is solely due to the visibility and status Mittani posesses. For the sake of the future eve development and offset any promotional and reputation damage, the public apology and announcement of punishment would be required. Not for any self satisfaction, or feeling of needing to tear down goons or Mittani, but that CCP really needs at this time to show that they are serious about the game community. Not to the current community, they proved that they care about the player base with Crucible. At least to me. They need to show future subscribers that eve is not only a place of darkness, piracy, but also how it is a place of industry, corporation and co-op play. When whatever the results of these events comes out, that line will need to be made clear.

Quite a good point. But like I said, other games still have stuff to show. Many games have the ability to block, ban, kick ignore, etc griefers. A mild annoyance and you respawn with none the difference. Eve's call to fame is the pvp sandbox with choice and consequence. Promotion of piracy and griefing is an attractive feature, but it needs to be shown that it is a part of eve, not eve as a whole.

I see it all the time, the comments eve is a pvp game. Carebears go back to wow and the like. If that was the case, we would have no eve or dust. I have said it in other replies on the topic, but it would be interesting to see the population breakdown of players in eve. How much of eve is actually funded and supported by people who highsec, carebear and mission run. Where do alot of the supplies for war originate? Want bigger fights, more members, then get the carebears in, show them harsh piracy, but get them interested in war.
