99.9% of suicide threats are actually emotional blackmail. Real suicides don't advertise because they want to succeed, and if you don't want to succeed you are not going to actually do it.

^^ You are a bit off base with that one.

Any suicide threat is a cry for help, and ignoring them is a very bad idea. Sometimes they do post up, or show obvious signs of distress...and they do go through with it. You should be helping anyone you see or know showing signs or symptoms of this kind of depression, and assuming it is just "emotional blackmail" is flat out callous.

My wife is a drug addict, because of her we lost our 2 kids, and if I don't manage to make the 20 bil I need to get into a supercarrier I am going to be kicked from my corp.

If no one helps me this depression because of my continued failure is going to make me kill meself!

Help me, please!!!

(by contracting me all your stuff)

what starts as emotional blackmail may very well end as a real suicide once you decide to "call his bluff" and he feels backed into a corner.

Aye, you never call bluff on those, because that turns it into a challenge.

Accept it, move on, forget about it. Don't cave to the emotional blackmail, but don't call them out so they feel they have to do it either.

Oh, interesting side note... A married US marine who threatens suicide will be charged with spousal abuse under military law Shocked

ie a suicide threat is a form of emotional abuse, not a threat to yourself, by that interpretation.
