I'm sorry to see that this has happened.

I always regarded the Mittani as the first Digital statesman.

You know what this will lead too. When the media get ahold of this, people who take what we do for 'fun'(griefing) in game seriously will be baying for blood.

CCP will have to apologize, out right condemn the Mittani's actions and make it clear this wont happen again.

What is worse is they may permanently ban the Mittani as sacrificial offering to the PR gods.

All of which I wish would not have to happen but probably will.

A tragic end to an individual whose hand has shaped a great deal of our games player driven lore.
Im sorry mittens. But when they placed the laurel on your head they failed to whisper: "All glory is fleeting."

The only defense one can mount of the mittanis position is that no one should reveal that much intimate details of one's private life to any one in game. And this individual chose to. Either way the Mittani is no fool and should have kept this info on the inside of goonswarm. In other words he knew better and did this any ways.

Unfortunately drunk people never know better, because they're drunk. But he should not have got to that state in the first place.

Have you ever run a business? One key to risk management is to reduce or remove your liabilities. Mittani is a liability. I can't think of any way that CCP can benefit from keeping Mittani CSM chief. Goons won't quit. They are hopelessly addicted to this game and have formed a symbiotic relationship with their Eve personas.

Meh, I'm going to have to agree with Kaivar that removing Mittani would be the safest, most practical, and easiest choice to make. (Where removing == "asking" Mittani to resign gracefully for the community's sake.)

How do you argue against the company liability lawyers in this case? How do you justify risking DUST and the Sony partnership over this? CCP already took a big hit with WoD layoffs and Incarna. Plus, booting Mittani distracts people from CCP's complicity/stupidity, namely alcohol + video + company_name = Trouble.

As much as I dislike "one strike and you're out" laws, business is business.

Ever have this concept of a joke?

Granted it was a bad one but thats what happens when you get drunk. My point is a single comment is not bullying. Bullying is repeatedly singling out someone an abusing them. Constantly.

Mittens made one drunken joke which, quite frankly, is said every single day in every game.

Seeing shitloads of people thinking this is a real apology, plz read mr mittens replies on the first page right !!!HERE!!!. And then try to explain the sincerity of his post.
To be honest you just fell to the lowlife level in my standards with this s**t alex, u should have just been the badass u pretend to be in earlier posts u made 2 days before this crap and face the shitstorm. Now this just comes as a lie and your words have become meaningless and so you can't preform in any role in this or future CSM's.

Resign and save the last piece of dignity u have left.

How can Alex Gianturdco say it was a “drunken mistake” when he wrote the whole presentation days in advance, supporting slides, complete with all his typical theatrical bull **** ready to go?

You knew what you were going to say, you knew you were saying it, and you knew what the intent was…………”make this guy’s life more miserable”……

You should not be representing the players of this game to the world as the CSM Chair or on the CSM. You need to do the right thing and resign.

I dont like mittani, but i respect his faggotry on local, forums and jabber broadcasts. He can insult and harrass enemies.
BUT i cant respect a guy in RL that is representing the players, not the toons, and see how he say that bullshit about a guy. Doesnt matter if he hast 1 or 10k votes. We/You didnt vote mittani. Voted Alexander Gianturco, a guy who drunk, in public, on a live stream, said stuff that can be prosecuted at least in 26 european countries. And that guy pretends now represent the eve community in front CCP.

No way. This is not about the mittani, is about Alexander Gianturco and he MUST resign. An apollogy its fine for his own conscience, but that doesnt relieve of guilt. Next time, think about what are you going to say, think before what are you going to do.

Also wanted to say that I was supposed to be in Strathcarron today, but the fooking road timetable is a mess - people at highland council need to resign for real.

You clearly didn't watch it so how come you are making judgements on his behaviour?

He went out of line in a spur of the moment remark after his presentation during Q&A. It was not part of his presentation.

Well I could be flippant and say its because I have 40x as many likes as you for genuine posts or I could say its because I watched Fanfest and got the point of the messaging they were putting out (and agreed with it.) I could well say its because I won the CSM elections previously while most have probably never even heard your name.

But ultimately the answer to your question is because I consider myself a member of the eve player community rather than a a member of some other community that just comes here to troll.

The trouble with that is Suicide in EVE means someone lost a destroyer, someone else lost a hulk.
Mittani made a quick EVE reaction to an EVE related event and got hauled in to someone elses personnal life.

He is being thrown under the bus, that is obvious. I don't expect GD to back him up but I am sure Goons will and that's all that matters.

I'm not here to be everyones friend. I'm here to pick a few and make them count. The rest of you can go to hell. CSM took that out of EVE. Alex Gianturdco can go back to being a Goon now and not being a poster boy for EVE. I'd say he comes out ahead on this one.

The "drunken mistake" was his ad-libbing of the material on the slide. He got egged on (or just blithered on) into saying things he hadn't prepared earlier. I'm prepared to believe that he didn't intend everything he did to happen in advance, but all in all it doesn't excuse what he did. You simply can't have a CSM chair and representative of the Eve community who can't hold their drink and acts like that in front of the cameras at fanfest. So my take - sure, he has to resign, but the apology here gets him a second chance as an eve player alongside the rest of us.

His punishment really is the destruction of his professional and gaming-media reputation.
