Being drunk is simply too convenient of an excuse, isn't it? This is nothing you can simply smooth over with a little PR apology. This is a person's life we are talking about! You are a sick man, Mittani!

You have to understand, this apology is coming from the same person who runs an alliance that literally finds most of their fun in screwing with people. It's a LITTLE hard to take this apology at face value.

I'd still have to say that I think you should step down as chairman, Mittens. The only way that an apology from a goon can be considered heartfelt and honest is with a gesture as big as that...

He didn't just apologize he also sent the dude 10.7 bil ISK.

The only thing a moral compass will lead you to in Eve is disappointment and loss.

This whole incident is disgusting.

First off. CCP, I realize you want fanfest to be a big party and you want everyone to have fun, but when you are doing something serious like a live broadcast, have some tact and provide the alcohol AFTER the broadcast. An incident like this was bound to happen sooner or later if you let drunk assholes represent you on a broadcast watched by thousands of people. It is incidents like this that are why you want to project an image of professionalism.

Secondly. Alex Gianturco, Your apology was heartfelt up until the very end. The fact that you added that slide in before the alcohol shows that you wanted to be a shittheel, as you so eloquently put it, before the alcohol. You said yourself that you as a person are not a villain, yet before the liquor turned you into a damned fool, you started digging your own grave by making that slide, and not as the mittani, internet spaceship villain extraordinaire, but as sober Alex Gianturco who should have NO excuse. What you did, in some states, is a criminally punishable offense and you did this on a live broadcast, which provides more than enough evidence and context. This is a serious matter, god forbid if that poor guy had gone and hurt himself, not only would you have that on your conscience, but you would have the long **** of the law ******* you hard.

If you truly want to take ownership of your mistakes then you can start by stepping down from CSM, tell your alliance members to stop defending an act you have publicly condoned and apologized for, and stop your alliance from attacking protesters in jita. Saying sorry is something you do when you don't pull out soon enough, when you **** up this bad, action is required.

Lastly, back to CCP, where the **** is your response to this? What is there to think about or consider? Is there any other option for you than to publicly condone this abhorrent jackass of a person? Will you continue to keep him at your side? You should have kicked him from fanfest right then and there for making such a comment. How do you feel knowing that there are thousands of players defending him? Will you let that temper your response?

Someone obviously doesn't like the sandbox.

This wasn't in the sandbox, this was at a massive PR event organised by our game's developer. It's an embarassment to the EVE community, many of whom elected Mittens for reasons totally separate to his goon-ness.

Time for him to resign from the CSM, for the good of the game. What CCP do to the player as a meritable punishment for something this crass, I donno, but if he's banned, so be it.

You're a better man than just another dog with a bunch of mad dogs beating down the cat. It's not a Mittens take down any more right now just in case you haven't noticed, it's Alex their target, this is what just became disgusting in this thread.
I really hope you are a better man than that, if not, then I just made a fool of my self.

I am personally insulted that monkey boy expects me to take his less than two hundred dollar "gift" seriously.

It's like watching a monkey throw BLEEP at you, it gets old in the first second and goes down hill from there.

Confirming mad status.

So skippy, you think less than two hundred dollars is real money?

Are you homeless?

The best part about this thread is all the people equating sticks and stones to a mortal sin when this game has always been about theft, subterfuge, murder, destruction, and all sorts of other wonderful terms that make the original event pale in comparison.

Just what game have all of you been playing all this time? Do you even have time to get anything done, or are you just filing petitions the whole time you're online?

To be surprised that someone does something against the grain is just.... well.... I can't think of a better word than stupid. I tried, I really did!

You miss the part where this was not part of the game.

well Krix there are only three things that cause blackouts, a doctor looks for brain trauma like a baseball bat to the head. Schizophrenia or alcoholism.

People today spend less and less time "in " the disease" A question often asked today is whether alcohol use has negative consequences for you or those around you. If it does stop, If you can't stop, call AA. What kind of person keeps doing stuff over and over that hurts themselves in some way shape or form?

According to your definition I'm having black outs and am an alcoholic.

I guess it's time to quit my job at the university and turn myself in to rehab. Big smile

I didn't really define blackout, you did. I gave probable diagnosis. Blackout implies a complete memory loss, duration and recovery not really predictable.

Everything is immensely more fun with alcohol. You think you can be good at internet spaceships without alcohol?

Alcohol is great fun indeed.

But abusing your position by encouraging people to encourage one person in particular to kill themself for real, is NOT fun.

CCP is not going to disenfranchise the 10,000+ accounts that voted for him. Anybody sensible knows that will not happen.

Well, so as you always said, politics is a game and you have to know how to play it. If you don't compromise, you know nothing about it.

And thats what you are doing now. You are not sorry....you may are angry at yourself for exposing yourself in public, and rightfully so. You caused a shitstorm only yourself are to blame for, and that hurts your EGO as you have thought you more intelligent that that. Alcohol is no excuse, you wern't THAT wasted...so don't play the "i don't remember card"...

Do you have to quit over this? I don't really care. CCP will determine that, i trust them to do what is in THEIR best interest, you should know something about that right? Thats a politicians life, sometimes you get changed like dirty laundry. And this time you got dirty....

As for your "but in RL i'm not that way" excuse, it may be so, it may not be so. Why should we care? You decide HOW you want to be seen in EvE, and thats the "The Mittani" character...most of us don't have the time nor interest in distinguishing what you really think and want you just say because it floats your boat today.

So...ok for the apology, but we care as much as goons cared for this guy...and till yesterday your trolled as hard about this as other goons ON the forum.

Sorry 'mittens' but no. You blaming drinking for what you did doesn't fly. As a former lawyer how violently would you rip that defense apart? You as a person crossed a line and playing the drunk card is even lower. If your 'persona' and the 'real you' blend so easily, you can't be acceptable to the community you supposedly serve.
