If you're worried about getting smeared in real life you shouldn't step into the spotlights. If you pull all the attention to yourself you're bound to get hit by something that will damage you. The Mittani is a very talented liar but he sometimes forgets that Eve has some other intelligent people who will see through his bullshit.

I'm betting mitani is level 30 by now in WOW. He's had a couple of days to work on his new character. I just hope he got into that sparkly vampire RP guild. I can't wait for his upcoming posts detailing how much he's having in WOW.

I just hope he comes back.

He never really left. He leads goons with other than in game methods. One of the things he boasted about in a recent message to the goons was that he is famous for never logging on or something to that effect. I suspect that is true. The ban itself had little if any impact on his leadership but being removed from the csm surely hurt.

Dude, I was completely cool with you until you got on Eve Radio and tried to make this issue bigger then it really is. Rambling on about how society is now going to see you as a cyber bully and how that will effect you in real life. I don't know in what kind of reality you live in but it's completely insignificant to what really happened.

You are a lair and a cheat, you deliberately said what you said at fanfest and you darn well know it. You gave an interview, pre-fanfest, where you clearly state what your intention were when your speech came up and you held true to your word.

How did you actually go from best CSM chairman to complete lamebrain ? Seriously, you were great in the CSM, you got things accomplished and you fought for the game and the content, your strategy was great and although for any company sometimes unwanted, you got the job done... And then the interview... you went a complete 180 from intellectual strategist to complete lamebrain... and it wasn't alcohol in that interview, not only that, you announced what you were going to say during fanfest and when you actually did say what you were planned to say all along, you get on Eve Radio and cry about how you meant to apologize and how you got smeared by the media and how it's going to effect your life, any sane person knows that logic is completely out of whack, if there is any, I do not see it.

You do not mean anything you said during the Eve Radio broadcast because you announced before fanfest that you wanted to call out to people to go kill themselves, that's what YOU said !!!!

You can not announce what you're going to say, then say it, then get a ton of crap and then go on radio, tell everyone you were messed up because of alcohol.... When you intended to say that crap all along.

You are a liar and a cheat, do not feed the community anymore bullcrap, please. CCP should ban you permanently.

You can see THAT effect in the editor's thoughts at the end of the massively apology article

"This entire week, we've received dozens of harassing emails and tweets about how the Goonswarm believes that we (Massively) practiced poor journalism, sensationalized the entire event, and painted The Mittani in a negative light. Well, now I can say that we're officially being cyber-bullied as it is defined by Wikipedia: "the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others." Those links are only a fraction of what's out there.

But don't take my word for it; let's allow The Mittani to speak for himself:

(3:34:02 AM) the_mittani: broadcast all-all Gentlegoons, I am delighted to report that Brendan Drain has edited his offending statements in his Massively coverage and apologized. He has now handled this properly, and we can stop sending glowering looks his way. No longer is my real name or the false label 'cyberbully' attached; hi5s all around. Tomorrow we will have another episode of Goonswarm Strikes Back: The Media Edition."

How being seen as a Cyber-bully will affect one in real life.... that would be relevant were it not for the fact the infraction had nothing to do with cyber-bullying or inciting to cyber-bully. Were Mitt a true leader he'd disabuse his "followers" of this notion and level with them. If he's indeed a lawyer, as has been said, he knows the infraction has to do with other things. He also knows that if it did get out, it would certainly negatively impact him in real life. He's also been told, in order to get a law degree (if this, again, can be believed) he's an officer of the court, and his behavior is under scrutiny.

Given all that, if he continues in this vein of mischaracterizing the facts of the situation, and in any way is prodding or urging his membership to conduct cyber-bullying, then his chosen profession was ill-chosen. But, he doesn't really care if his "followers" wallow in ignorance, as he leads them on about what really transpired...what lines were crossed...and he really can't claim it's all in-game role playing. So, any ostracization he recieves in real life as a result of him being himself is not only justified, it's well-deserved, and I can't believe he'd be crying about it. It is, after all, what he was after.
And, he got it.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

And I applaud the editor at massively for not cowering down the same way Nyphur did. The Mittani has been using his brainwashed alliance to serve his will not only in game but now out of game. And seeing as how I haven't done it yet I would also like to credit the only two csm's that were outspoken about his actions; Issler Dainze and Darius III. All the other csm's tried to downplay what he did and keep him in game or were simply silent. Silence is the same as supporting him in my opinion.

I think after the Pre-Fanfest video interview on YouTube the editor might want to change things back to the original because he changed it on false information and lies.

Severe offences may result in an immediate ban without warning; however, warnings may be given for first time offenses, followed by account suspensions of varying degree and ultimately a permanent ban if a player:

a. Is abusive, obscene, offensive, sexually explicit, ethnically or racially offensive, or threatening to another player or an official EVE Online representative.
b. Uses role-playing as an excuse for violating the guidelines regarding fair play with others.

Respect is earned, not deserved.

So tell me how you treat random strangers. They clearly haven't earned your respect. I mean how could they if they have never met you. Everybody new you meet is obviously disrespecting you. And what exactly is the criteria for your "respect".

I give everyone a basic level of respect, and generally people may call it good manners. That is something I give freely. However from that point on it is upto them whether the go up or down.

If only we could teach good manners to the goons. I'll leave that task up to you cause god knows I'm not up to it. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck.

LOL at anyone believing any apology coming from Mittani could ever be honest... of course it wasn't, you shouldn't even have needed the media campaign he ensued afterwards to understand that, but as much as there's people believing in Santa Claus (and who voted for him in the CSM) there's always going to be people believing in his good hartedness and all that :D

This whole episode is so very laughable because of other reasons too...
Fist, the very fact that Gianturco would say that he, as a person, sends his apologies while The Mittani would not... this makes it all look like he's doing RP all along, while the exact opposite is true of him and the whole fo Goonswarm.
The very own Goons culture is based upon the lack of RP, the mockery of anyone who does it, but more, the disregard of people who have a consistent behaviour in game or out of it, the stepping over boundaries, the total avoidance of common social rules.
They laugh at people who "take the game seriously" and their only rule is to crush them mercilessy by any means possible, in game and out.
In a few words, for a Goon the word "honour" and "respect" are totally meaningless both in game and out of it.
What they practice is not definable as Roleplaying, but as Metagaming.
I wonder what does it take to realize that.
Second, it's also amazingly funny how much they have built up their outrage at what the media and the GMs did to teher beloved spymaster.
As someone noted already, they're tackling this in a tremendously serious effort, for an alliance who thinks and boasts that nothing is serious.
Lol

Oh, and yes, this is an alt. I still would like to play the game, thanks. P
