Man shows up trashed to public event and speaks.
Man drunkenly trashes fellow player.
Great outcry.
Man resigns.
Gets more votes next time.
Great success.

If you bring real life online then that is you problem IMHO.
The Cloud does not forget. Every piece of data that you put online stays online...guess what: It´s not gone when YOU delete it on your end of the line. If you share your private life with strangers then you basically agree on everything afterwards. Thatis also the reason why I think that people that upload pictures of their kids on e.g. facebook are complete retards.(They give away their "rights" on the pictures of their kids).
Dont say you were hurt...you should have seperated "private" from "online" in the first place.

Dude, not cool. Everyone has accepted by now that there is a boundary in terms of what is acceptable, if you haven't managed to catch up, then for the love of god get with the program soon. Also, Mittens took the issue out of the game and into the real world, so he will suffer the real world effects of that. Keeping things in game works both ways.

Of course you are right that what was said was wrong. Nobody denies that. I just want to point out that there is also something like "self-responsibilty" what content of your real life you want to toss into the sharks basin (for everyone). Putting it out of the game is something equally stupid, and I guess nobody denies that either.
BUT:
(I do not know if you saw the original bio of this guy...I did some days ago when the **** hit the fan)

I can not see the justification for the "victim" to say something like: "I am hurt because you made fun of parts of my real life that I made available to EVERYONE"

Avoiding CONCORD consequences is, I believe, a TOS/EULA breach and (at least if repeated) a bannable offense. In the current situation the Goons face, I would strongly recommend against risking that. They might not have too much goodwill left to spend.

You might want to learn about the subjects you pontificate about rather than bring disgrace on your corp by making yourself look ignorant.

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS): look it up.

10/10 for terribad analogy use.

I know what a DDoS is, but I'm not sure you do. Fighting a space battle in a PvP MMO isn't an example of one.

I also rather suspect that you don't know what an analogy is either.

I never realized I was participating in DD0S attacks all those years, I thought I was just participating in large fleet battles that sometimes were too much for the node in a computer game.

I'm so ashamed. Oops

DDoS may not be the correct term
but you will be asked to stop attacking the node if jita goes down multiple times
so its quite a good analogy

First, he get's drunk like a teenager (on stage). Then he proceeds to rant in general about victims of scams and griefing, and about a depressed individual in particular - which he then proceeds to encourage others to help induce to commit suicide(!)

Then he feigns contrition and issues an apology to save his skin.

Having discovered that this ruse hasn't had the desired effect, he then becomes thoroughly entertaining....

Like a small baby having had its pacifier taken away, he lashed out at CCP, even though everyone can see that it is all entirely of his own doing. And whilst publicly proclaiming that he is contrite, and whilst posting official apologies on the forums, he also releases a State of the Goonian (link) where he advocates an all out attack on Jita (because he can't touch CCP itself), under the rather pathetic guise of it being some sort of socio-economic behavioral experiment to see how CCP will respond and whether EVE is still EVE.

In addition to this, he puts a new image up on his blog (link), suggesting that actually it isn't really his fault but that of CCP and (incredibly) the prevailing culture regarding alchohol consumption in Iceland....(!) Talk about trying to dodge responsibility for your own actions.

What an utter load on BS, coming from an obviously morally flawed, manic deppressive and very obviously bipolar sociopath.

My deepest sympathies. I can't be easy being the way he is.

Actually, I strongly suspect emails will be sent to CCP notifying them of a perfect chance to observe the node under stress... they love that sort of thing and encourage it.

So if the node does finally go down, they'll ask for a break in the action long enough to make some adjustments and then start monitoring again.

In truth this activity will make the game stronger in a variety of ways, technologically, economically, and socially... not to mention generating yet another huge wave of positive media coverage as the gaming world marvels at a game where such things are not only possible, but encouraged.

I can't wait.

At the worst you might be asked to stop until they have time to reinforce it, methinks.

Being able to go to Jita is not a civil right protected by CCP.

Pretty much; wouldn't surprise me if they invite some industry specialists as well to look at the data, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a lot of engineers. Hell, I'd love to, and my main field isn't really networking!

You do make a valid point, but most people suffering from anything that alters ones thinking generally don't make the most rational choices. Sort of both sides being right...eh, hard to explain. That being said, Mittens has the support of his Alliance, where as the guy he targeted doesn't have that sort of backup...so I think he is just doing what he can to try to handle the situation. Even if it is ill-advised attempts.

there is nothing much to reinforce , its already a 1 solarsystem cluster on a supernode as i understand it with a ceiling of 2,4k players allowed on it

yes there is nothing to protect you , but bringing the node down multiple time will cause an reaction

but thats all speculation , we will see

I would expect you to know mechanics better. I mean aren't you guys meant to be pro anti-pirates? Removing concord from the grid as nothing to do with avoiding consequences, a new spawn appears and kills you (or the old one returns from wherever you moved it). It is merely the way to remove concord spawns from previous attacks or which have been deliberately spawned by others for protection. It actually makes the mechanic work as intended as instead of an unrelated concord spawn instakilling you it reverts to the normal concord response time.
