Noone intended incidents like this to happen, but it will happen again in the future on "Polarbeer" Fanfests again in the future.

I support the 1 month ban and being kicked from CSM the remaining period. But the next period too is a bit drastic.
Poster rage is non constructive for CSM.

Right, next period is really a drastic reduce of what it should be.

A person as this should NEVER EVER be allowed to be let anywhere NEAR Fanfest, CSM, ISD or whatever!

Say NO to CCP-EA.

http://pastebin.com/B7HCtBUE Mittani isn't sorry. He's just sorry that he got caught.

So he got drunk and said something stupid, if people were going to get upset they shouldn't have let him take the stand to begin with. A lot of posters seem more concerned with hurting goons than actually feeling sorry for the emo kid. Its an mmo guys you're going to hear drunk people talk get over it. I only hope this incident doesn't bring about a Blizzard like level of PC enforcement.

Isabella, I clearly understood what he said

One player has psychological problems and should get help, and Mittani also has problems (however not psychological) (equally does NOT imply that he has also psychological, but also as big problems as the other one, be it from family, or just because he was drunk or whatever)

Alex has trouble with distinction between real-life and alter ego. HOWEVER: CCP should have recognised that, so in the end, it's CCPs fault, because they should have regognized it. OK, he does not believe CCP has an obligation, but he is surprised that CCP didnt tell Alex that he has problems. So not Alex' fault, but CCP, they should have told him

He wishs Alex the best anyway

So what he says is: POOR POOR Alex, BAD BAD CCP and the Mackinaw player is a psychologically troubled person

[/quote

Erm, yeah pretty much what I wasnt saying but you know whatever. [:=d

I apolozie, you are right.

EVE would be much better if all the CSM members would call out for killing people they don't like.

Sorry that I didn't see that in the first place.

It's a lesson in hubris for Alex. He's been feeling quite untouchable for the last year. That anything he did, he was going to find himself above the fray, no matter how many people he pissed off and outraged. He discovered the line this week.

I feel bad for him, though. His game has become the meta-game, and his persona has become that of the King of Space. This is going to be a harsh and sudden change for him.

I'm not sure he's going to enjoy being out of the spotlight. I expect he's going to be tremendously bored just playing space CEO. By this time next year, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to move on from EVE Online to other activities. And if Mittens departs, many Goons will likely follow. The game will be worse for his departure. Worse with fewer Goons.

Poetic, you made some good points but I think that this game is bigger than any one person. Will we notice the difference if TM and some Goons leave? I suspect not. Things will either be just as they are now or we'll find that some new Goons will be decanted from whatever vats they are grown in.

BTW, you missed an excellent opportunity to link all this into some evil plan by E-UNI to take over the CSM Blink

Not everything is black and white, and please stop putting words in my mouth... I don't know (or even want to know) where your hands have been.

He gave up the chair of the CSM as he realised it was a clash of interests with him as a leader of a bloodthirsty alliance.
He kept his seat on the CSM as he didn't want to let down the 10,065 people that voted for him (and thus not make their votes pointless).
He got a standard ban of 30 days for breaking the Terms of Service which is perfectly reasonable.

All seems fine to me. I guess he'll just carry on being the strongest leader of the strongest alliance in EVE online.

The political BS, if anyone here cared about the suicidal guy, that's using him to bash the goons with then you'd have dealt with this without spreading it all over the internet.

I am not condoning what Mittani did, stepping down was the right thing to do but let's be clear. the over reaction against him has also been just as damaging as his actions. I believe the ends (Mittani's removal from office) does not justify the means (dragging eve through the gutter in the gaming press).

Pretty much this; although I'm sure this won't be the last time situations like this get used like this.

with some hope it was the last time we see a CSM member make such a **** of himself on a live feed.

be clear, it was the actions of your leader Alex that brought the attention in the first place.

People are going to continue to say stupid ****, people will continue to attempt to blow it up further. The Mittani did **** up.

Not many people will actually care about the person involved in this; although I am honestly quite surprised CCP haven't just offered them character renames at this point so that they can not be a great big flashing target forever more.

I do have that thank Mittani for giving up the CSM and whatnot, as to be honest, I don't want him representing me as a player of EVE. Nothing personal about Goon, hells, I love WI. but still... It is a huge clash of interest, wanting to be the biggest pain in EVE whilst also representing players to both CCP and the public. So yeah, I do have to thank him for separating himself from that position (being serious there too).

Also, I would like to point out, attacking Jita because "carebears" wont fight back...considering you guys need the markets too, even if you think you don't, it's gonna come back to bite you on the ass. Considering how lacking your leader is in terms of thinking about consequences, I figured I should point this out for you guys. Plus, most people will treat it like Hulkageddon and dock up or stay clear (or, those paying attention will).

Odd

Looks like a guy got carried away with his own hype and then the world blew up in his face.

Ok, not great.

Same guy is the one who looks after all eve players etc because he is on the CSM. Stuff happens because he is involved, like rain and crop growth.......

mmmkay

but now he is suddenly unfit? Why? Becuause he's a bullshitter? Because he is nasty?

I have no love of the goons, or their out of game ethos etc, however their presence adds to our game.

That the Mittani was a fool at this event is just that. He was a dork. Does not mean that he isn't a positive force in the eve game or that he can't help shape opinion.

I don't want to fly a spacehip in a universe where I have to consider the feelings and motive, the mental state, and potential feng shui of the guy whose grinding ice.

This is a non-consensual environment

So we are going to be in situations where folk will invest serious emotion into their stuff and some bum takes it away.

WE WILL, WE WILL, MOCK YOU - Sing it Freddie

I worry that because Mittani is so high profile, and this is partly due to his own self aggrandisement, that we expect him to be a politician.

He's a **** that plays on the internet instead of looking at porn. Same as you and me.

^ That. I hope people realize that the only thing they are achieving with with Mittani hate posts is just fueling energy into CFC. At the end of the day CCPs screw up will cause space to burn. What Mittani said was S..t, What CCP did was S..t. However blood everywhere is going to create so much tasty salvage Twisted
