You are surprised that he got in trouble for saying "So if you want to make this guy go kill himself, here is his name. Go find him"

Hello?

People are being charged in a criminal case for causing a guy to commit suicide, not directly intending for him to commit suicide, but their actions resulting in his death. Mittens told people to go grief a guy to make him kill himself.

Now, never mind the legal implications of that, consider the PR problems with this. CCP now looks like a company that supports bullying to the point that people harm themselves, which is very... counteractive to making money, especially in a country such as the United States where actions similar to this are being met with sever punishments.

What mittens said is abhorrent as a human being, and more importantly to CCP since he is the public face of the gaming population, is attracting loads of bad PR.

I don't think the full legal implications of what mittens did have fully sunk in yet..

There are currently individuals pending criminal charges in the United States over posting video of an individual kissing another man, that individual later committing suicide.

If The Wiz actually committed suicide because his mackinaws were pursued mercilessly by individuals intent on making him kill himself, jokingly or not, would mittens be facing criminal charges? The fact that he was joking does not matter, the fact that he was drunk is irrelevant. When someone is accused of ****, saying "I was drunk" is not a valid defense. The individuals charged with the suicide mentioned above made public apologies and said "We didn't intend for him to kill himself.

Now the real question is; is someone who would advocate, even jokingly (jokingly is a context to be taken by the individual watching the presentation, not the presenter), that people pursue a player to make himself commit suicide worthy of any place of leadership? Questions to ponder

Mittani, you are a disgusting individual. The fact that you would get a pleasure out of griefing someone to the point that they commit suicide, or the idea of someone committing suicide from griefing, is abhorrent. Completely disregarding that fact that you were drunk during the presentation, you put those slides together, including an individual speaking about deep depression and suicide, and presented them in a mocking fashion. Seriously think about what you would have done if that guy had committed suicide. In truth you probably never would have found out, since his subscription would have just ended, and the player would have left the game forever. The goons would have chalked it up as another victory "Ha, we ****** with him so bad he QUIT the game!!!" not knowing he actually quit his life

The individuals saying that there is nothing wrong with your posts need to take a serious step back and consider what their morals and values are. To quote many goons defending your comments, "This is a game", exactly, we're here to have fun, sometimes in a frustrating and infuriating way. Death IRL should never be brought into that mix

Now, lets get back to blowing up internet space ships.

Yeah there is a lot CCP needs to take a long hard look at with respect to the game. They are managing a social media platform as much as a game.

The goons mentality which might have been cute 3 years ago needs to be looked at again.

Especially how much they as entitled goon pubbies have been acting in defense of something indefensible.

And then that recording of mittens doubling down on stupid and still trying to act like hes space king was pricelessly funny.

Don't worry about Krutoj, Cunanium. The basis of his argument is flawed because he didn't read what happened. It was a LIVE feed. No one could have beeped out the name or anything, because it was a real time feed. He is also trying to call out the guy suffering from depression...I mean, come on...that shows he is lacking in both morals and intelligence.

Honestly, I don't think people realize the implications of this type of stuff. Goon has always rode on the line of what is considered "just a game" and "real life." They have probably crossed the line here, and this is could easily get a lot worse. People have been prosecuted for a lot less, and it's not great mystery to anyone who briefly watches the news, "cyber bullying" isn't something people shouldn't take lightly anymore.

If CCP was smart they would quickly segregate themselves from this guy and ban him out right from the game. As interesting of a concept as this may sound, if someone was found to have committed suicide and "EVE" was involved, I can sure you this would show up in some sort of legal preceding.

from his own words on : http://www.evenews24.com/2012/03/28/leak-gsf-ceo-update-clutching-pearls-and-finger-wagging/

You think the guy would somewhere along the line figure out that what he is doing is wrong, that he is causing all of his own problems.

Nope, he's with stupid, driving off the cliff.

Besides Mittani, no one cares you say you gave up CSM7 chairmanship - you don't have it, and you weren't going to get it anyway, so you can't give up something you don't have.

Also, The Mittani didn't fall on any sword. He didn't sacrifice anything of himself. What he did do was advocate cyber-bullying, attempting to get people to push someone to commit suicide through the internet. The Mittani seeks to use words as a weapon, to make others feel pain, to some how make up for his own sorry existence and moral depravity.

Although I do not agree with his public call for harassment of another player and I think a sincere public apology is most definitely required as penance.
Further than that...
CCP organizes and produces these 'open' forums, they had knowledge in advance of the background/topic of the discussion and yet they still allowed a very drunk player who orchestrated the so called 'undesirable events' for this depressed player to host....
Honestly did you expect rainbows and butterflies or an intoxicated 'spotlighted' player to comment as his in game alt. whom he's infamous for?

Im going to be honest about this.

When he said he was going to step down on his twitter I thought. "OH he gets it" but then he tried to cling to his power desperately showing that he didnt actually care or reflect on what he did. Had he just stepped down from the CSM instead of trying to weasel his way out of it this would not have become the mess it became.

Thats when it became clear he had to go.

"Goons ruining the game"? Wtf?
Without 'evil people' eve would become a stupid game. If someone wishes to hunt for slowpokes - let him do it as much as he can.
If you want peacefully move pixels on your screen staying in total safety in-game - do not undock. If you can't understand what I'm talking about, then you've chosen the wrong game. If you have weak nerves, online games are not for you. Because you will always be facing very different people.
Even more, you should consider avoiding any heavily populated internet resources which are not premoderated. I'm serious. Internet gives much more freedom in communication than real life - if you can't accept that then avoid. But never whine, no one gives a f*** about your whining, I assure you.

Well the result is pretty much as expected (at least in my opinion).

There is no denying he slipped up (to put it mildly) at Fanfest and he's apologized to the person and to the community. There is no more to say on that really. That won't stop people who like to wallow in drama of course. Roll

Mittens is right about wearing Multiple Hats (and no, he's not referring to the Wizard hat Lol) being not compatible between who he represents and the role of CSM / CSM Chair and who he represents in Game. But that hadn't stopped the excellent work put in my CSM6.

CSM7 need to put up a united front and have a strong, effective Chairman ASAP, make a statement (If they haven't already) and move on - As do we all.

On a personal note I think CSM6 did an outstanding job.

Believe in what they do, not what they say.

Also I find it funny that Mittani blew it for the goons who voted for him.

And in classic tin pot dictator fashion he points his finger and says "look its all their fault" to distract his followers.

And they fall for it like the pubbies they are.
