I don't need a case you incredible shitheel. There is no 'case'. Video game internet news sites are hardly paragons of upstanding and unbiased work, they'll take anything they can get to throw **** into your RSS feed in desperate hopes that someone will visit their site and give them ad revenue. Essentially no one cared about his alliance panel presentation until 2 days ex post facto, which by some miracle coincidence, happens to be when everyone found out that Mittani would be returning as our CSM chair.

not true, i watched the livestream and was disgusted. i posted something into the FB chat (dont remember exactly what).

also, CSM7 was announced on saturday. its not your fault you weren't paying attention due to arrogance.

It is also obvious that you cannot handle your alcohol.

Yeah, an even bigger point, really. Mittani shouldn't be in the CSM, he should be in alcoholics anonymous and focusing his own time on making himself a better person. EVE is doing quite well, between Mittani as a person and EVE, I'd say the former needs more work done than the latter.

Be best for him to resign and then go get some serious therapy.

So basically your judging this guy as an alcoholic form seeing him drunk once. I totally would like to know your credentials as a Substance Abuse Counselor. I drank these two bottles of wine the other night, and I couldn't stop till I drank them both. Then I had sex with my wife. (Maybe it was just the pillow)

Do I have a problem?

Yes, you have a problem. What guy drinks Wine to get drunk and not beer or harder stuff? Wine is for dinner and women.

The shame.

I would just like to clarify (for those who haven't had problems with depression) that telling someone you are suicidal, especially to an anonymous stranger (as 99% of EVE players are to each other), is not an attempt at attention, but a cry for help. Telling someone, even a stranger, that you would like to kill yourself is not something you just say nonchalantly. It takes a lot to confess such a painful and personal problem. EVE is full of attention-whoring, and you Goons are the masters of it (which is an art in its own right, and while I hate you for it, I gotta respect the talent), but threats of suicide aren't equal. You never know how serious someone is when they say they want to commit suicide, but you NEVER TAKE THE CHANCE. Life is precious, no matter your religion (or lack of one), politics (or lack of one), or morals (or lack thereof). That he is alive and well is wonderful, but IT COULD BE DIFFERENT THE NEXT TIME. This is a big deal, not because he really did kill himself, but that the CSM (who happens to be The Mittani) advocated players harrassing him into ACTUALLY KILLING HIMSELF. This is not so much about The Mittani (tho he admits he is an unrepentant *** ingame, which I also respect for the RP factor [and screw all the RP haters, flame on doughboys]) but about the CSM as representative of the community, and the Chair being the face and voice of said CSM.

Well... that's a problem. I reserve the right not to give a snip. Providing mental healthcare is not my job or responsibility. Everyone I've known who has offed themselves can kiss my tailpipe. They don't deserve any attention. If nutters are a problem in game how about we add a "report nutter" button to the chat window. Otherwise don't air your dirty laundry in my game. ...unless it's dirty laundry about the game. MMOs are not a cure for depression. They are a cure for boredom. If anything ban people for threatening suicide so they can get some real help.... because you aren't going to find any here. I have a special personal place of hate in my mind for people who commit suicide. I'm not going to be bothered.

I for one am glad to see this. I still find some of the rhetoric over this issue disturbing in that The Mittani upon sobering up and watching himself knows that it was bad, but there was a lot of really upsetting stuff said in defense of those acts by people apparently acting under complete sobriety. I hope that these people reflect on these things a bit and hopefully learn something.

So respect re-earned. This kind of public apology thing is tough; glad to see it. I hope you continue playing the bad guy and giving the EvE community something to talk about. And yeah, don't retire.

It's completely irrelevant what the victim thinks. The video game media could care two ***** about it. But the "official" face of the EVE community advocating cyber bullying? Thats the story and trumps anything someone says in a private conversation. Especially when that comment was said tongue in cheek.

I know exactly what you are saying about media coverage... rarely do the facts have any bearing on an event is reported.

However, I think it's a bit of a reach to insist that the crime of "Cyber Bullying" has been committed when the victim is completely unaware of it and finds the whole matter a joke.

If this were a child who was victimized and was unaware of it, that I could accept (although have you really been bullied if no one actually bullied you), but we are talking about a grown divorced man who if he were indeed suicidal or extremely depressed would be the first person to speak up.

Instead he is cracking jokes about it.

No "crime" has been committed, unless you consider bad jokes to be a crime.

An apology was the appropriate response.

After reading his tweets, I have to retract my comment that I dont think the apology was sincere. I now believe that it was actually a sincere apology. Doesnt change the fact that he should stand down or be removed as head of CSM.

He is actually starting to go up in respect level by not blaming the booze

It's crazy how this has evolved in the last 24 hours.

Mitts, I respect you and what you've done with Goons and EVE, altough at times I can't stand you. I even voted for you once because I knew you were to right man to take on CCP at it's worst.

I respect that you took the courage to hold your hands up and apologise.

However harassment and bullying, something I'm sure a fair few people on 4chan and in goons have probably suffered in their time is never funny nor clever.

I think you should seriously consider your position as this is only going to hurt Goons, EVE and CCP in the long run if you remain.

The apology was appropriate. Please dont resign, and CCP please dont make him resign.

People do stupid things on occasion (especially when drunk), in this case stuff got blown way out of proportion by dumbshit media outlets desperate for page views. Having read the response from the individual in question (it found its way onto reddit) they seem to not care or are even maybe enjoying their 5 minutes of e-fame.

I suppose any final decision by CCP is up to a bunch of people who frankly dont give a rats ass about EVE aside from how much RL money it makes them, and the shareholders may see the bad publicity hurting their bottom line.

CCP is not a public company and has no shareholders. It has loans, but no public shares to trade on the market to go up or down from any publicity.

I hope this is a sincere apology. Unfortunately the only one who can know this is The Mittani himself.

To be honest, I was surprised when I hear these allegations. I figured that someone was just making noise on the forums (as happens too often). This was reinforced by the fact that they decided to deal with this supposed injustice by whining on the forums instead of doing what any responsible person should do in such a situation - contacting law enforcement.

"LOL, like that will do anything" you might say. But youwouldbesurprised.

Should he resign? Maybe. Should CCP ban him? Possibly. Being drunk is certainly not an excuse. However, I still have to recognize that The Mittani has been a highly capable CSM Chairman. He took the Chairman from being a powerless figurehead to a highly effective central spokesperson. I will be saddened if he leaves. Doesn't change what he did I guess.
