As I said earlier it's all pretty simple in my opinion.

What he did would get any other player in the game a temp ban at best.

Regardless if his apology was sincere or not he needs to get banned. If the apology was sincere that doesn't take away the consquences of the action.

All being sincere should do in regards to an apology is show that you are remourseful and that you are a man who acknowledges you did something wrong. It says that you do not wish to be known as that kind of person because of a mistake you made.

The best case scenario I can see for his apology would be a little lineincy in the form of accepting his resignation from the CSM and only issuing a small temporary ban.

If CCP feels the apology was only an attempt to evade trouble then it should be a flull fledged removal from EvE.

It doesn't merit removal from the council, or even a temporary ban. I realize that you're VERY UPSET about him ganking your Mackinaw but that's actually allowed, believe it or not!

Stop posting before you make the rest of the Goons look like morons. Who cares about a stupid in game ship? I was obviously refering to his harrassment of the "suicidal" dude. On top of that your leader himself seems to agree with me and numerous others that at the least it deserves a removal from CSM.

You can try to deny what he did and where he crossed the line all you want to. Inside though EVERYONE knows that if any other eve player short of maybe 2 or 3 others had done this very same thing they would have already been hit with the ban hammer.

The CSM, however, doesn't seem to think so.

And that matters how? The CSM is not above CCP and their rules. I don't care if every single active player in EvE voted to let him stay CCP should still remove him. He violated their EULA or whatever the hell you want to call it to an extreme degree. The only reason it's a conversation and not a "Bam you banned and forever forgotten" situation is b/c of his immense popularity. Hell he is probably the most famous EvE play ever, and if not he's damn close.

Oops, no he didn't.

natural beating

Whatever your parents did to you, that damaged all those poor brain cells, it wasn't natural. See, this whole thread is an uproar about how Mittens apologized for not meeting the criteria that we hold up as a SOCIETY. (Not to mention the whole terribly paradoxical fact that we don't hold ANY politicians or celebrities responsible for their actions, so the high horse is just plain stupid). However, in that same society, there's no such thing as "natural beating". The rest of us call it assault.

Please, go on about how nature is a friendly *****. I suggest reviewing episodes of C.O.P.S. interspersed with Marty Stouffer's Wild America.

True enough but what happened here was way larger then just some in game harrment. Anyone should be able to understand that.

I actually like Goon and think it's insanely funny how they pretty much own EvE. To this point though it's been b/c of in game stuff. What this guy did though was completely and whole heartedly over the line. He EVEN ADMITS THIS HIMSELF !

For CCP to not remove him would just be unthinkable. What kind of message does that send?

Maybe I will go to Fanfest next year and harress the **** out of everyone I see, as well as share their personal information and try to talk others into doing this until the person finally just kills themself. There is absolutely no way this can be defended by anyone with half a brain. You cannot tell me what he did was 100% ok. Therefore if what he did was not 100% ok then there HAS to be some consequences, period.

Tell me more about how Mittens shared this guy's personal information and went on a campaign to ensure that everyone harassed this guy beyond saying this to a drunk crowd at what is basically a pre-pub crawl event

fyi his in-game name is not personal information

dude that was never in question. The problem I and a "few" other people are having is that people, urself included it seems, think this is no big deal. I'd think this was bullshit even if i didn't know Wis. For two or three days we heard that Wis got brought up at fanfest by the goons and we had a good laugh over it cause Wis knew what it was about, when they ganked him.....so we were eager to see the video, we knew the goons were going to mock him...he knew it. Nobody had any idea that this little piece of sheise was actually asking people to email wis and tell him to "kill himself". That was completely out of left field. I was stunned when i saw the cavalier nature of that video cause Wis had done nothing to these people except be the victim of their ganking.

Are you kidding me, it is a game... This is a game where lots of things are said... First off, why would mittens be expected to believe that the guy actually was suicidal as most players will say anything to try to keep their ships or their money making locations... Second if you can not handle the way a game is set up don't play it. Personally I do not understand why he would get repercussions for this and I do not think he should resign. This is dumb and blown way out of proportion!

This is coming from somebody who thinks that it's perfectly alright to assault somebody because they told you to kill yourself.

It's not assault! It's a 'natural beating'. You know, like when hamsters have babies and then eat them all. It's like .... nature, man.

I dont know why you are asking me this, I was pointing out to someone else that you were still subject to USA laws when abroad. Someone else was talking about Swedish laws so I clarified you are also subject them them. And any laws of the country you are in the honors a US passport.

Anything else?

It was my understanding he told everyone this guys real name and encouraged them to harrass him in and out of game. A persons name is personal information when it's involving a video game in which the only thing a person knows is your in game name.

Regardless let's agree that no personal information was given out, does that still remove all wrong doing? No it does not.

You supporters of this can kiss his ass all you want to but all it's doing is making you look like kool aid drinkers waiting for him to pass you the drink that will magicaly take you home to be with the Aliens in the sky.
