Fair play to Mittens for actually stepping up and admitting that his out of game asshattery was inappropriate

He stepped over the line, he's admitted that he stepped over the line and apologised for being an arse hole. Now we should let him get on with the job of being CSM chairman, and along with the rest of the CSM get back to pouring cold water on the marketing departments insanity and keeping CCP on track with improving Eve into something better than the rest, because Internet spaceships is serious business.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

And what are YOUR legal qualifications to make a sweeping statement like that? Actually don't answer that, since the statement is just disgruntled commentary on the current legal trend against cyber-bullying. Well, whether you like it or not, it is a powerful legal trend at the moment, and it will be taken into consideration when CCP makes their decision. That's obvious from the statement they've already released.

Deal with it.

Alex needs to HTFU and step down from the CSM like he originally said he would. Not try to weasel out of what he said he would do.

Goons need to HTFU and accept that he needs to step down and stop acting like babies.

It seems about equal to what the Goons dish out on a regular basis. I don't mind that, but to ***** about it as a Goon is a tad rich.

I know.. don't you just love it

Goons complaining about this being political, Goons complaining about hate and verbal abuse.. some top quality posting.

Ok mittens, your apology is not accepted by me. Your behavior was totally and utterly un-acceptable.

I am with those who demand you step down from the CSM, but i also want to see the following actions, and in this i am mild.

Remove yourself from the game, or simply delete your charachter/charachters! all of them and start from the scratch, start from 0000.0000.000.

And next to that rename Goonswarm to completely something else, this is to delete your shameful behavior.

You must be let of with a prayer as you so eloquently put it, with praying your whole alliance wasnt dismantled by CCP. and your MAC/and IP banned for life.

Such is my thought on this issue.

And allowing your precious dictatorial wanabe leader to form your thoughts for you.

i watched it happen, wasn´t suprised, after all, alcohol just removes the brakes and lets what within run riot no matter what the consequences.

Apologies don´t count mittens, you screwed up and showed your real underlying self, go lie in an isolation chamber and comtemplate ur worthlessness.

edit: He wasn´t the only person displaying a lack of self awareness on that panel, for maturity the first WH guy stole the show and was a great advert for CCP and eve.

You know, I'm really upset about the nature of the comments in the panel, but am hardly surprised by them. After all, the Eve community dishes out some of the most vile inhuman stuff with "**** cages" being at the low end of the spectrum of what can be said. Some of us are simply shocked that Mittens could have said something like this. But then, we have that this community uses things like "**** cage" to describe warp disrupt bubbles. And, when somebody protests, they're berated with messages of "HTFU."

So I ask, is the Mittani's alliance panel time merely the actions of one person? Or is this a symptom of a larger flaw within the community? Personally, I think it's the later. The community takes great pleasure at being so much less than the best of humanity. To this end, I'd like to point out how the audience was laughing in step with what he had to say about the miner and how he presented it. It' only recently, that there have been calls for his removal/banning. People are seizing upon his vulnerability right now. And there is only one word that can adequately describe this change; Hypocrisy.

Not one week ago, the Jita Park Corner of the forums was packed with threads about the Mittani and how great he is for the CSM and for the community. Now, the front page of the GD is packed with threads calling for his removal and ban. I find it galling that people are choosing now to jump on the "insensitivity towards human weaknesses is bad" bandwagon.

But, perhaps with Mittens, it's something else. Perhaps we have expected him to be better than us by being elected to the C.S.M. As if there were some unwritten social contract that he has to fulfill saying that he can no longer just be one of the community. He must stand apart from us. And Mittens messed up. He has to go, and he has to go right now! Off with his head! He's some how committed a taboo by saying something that gets spat out across comms all over the place. Well, I say enough is enough!

Everybody in the community needs to take a hard look at their own actions before they can call for the Mttani's resignation and/or ban. The only person who has any leg to stand on has already been apologized to publicly and in game. He is the only one who has any right to call for any action for or against the Mittani. I think this was appalling Mittens. I think you should know better! You often call for us to approach you with a sound and reasonable argument and speak with an air of intelligence. If you really are sorry for your actions, then don't step down. The community needs you to be the chairman of the CSM, even if your character is so much less than the best of humanity.

I would hope you take this incident and your position in the CSM as an opportunity to role model to the community as to how not to act.

Using the death (real or potential) of an actual human being as political capital in an internet spaceships game was disgusting when BoB did it in 2005 and its disgusting to see people doing it now.

Why did it take 3 days for this to blow up? Immediately after the alliance panel threads like this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=85068
popped up all over the forums wondering why CCP allowed such cursing.

Why did it take three days for it to blow up? Easy. It took three days for the video and a transcript of the relevant words to become widely available (at least widely available enough for a non-elite poster such as myself to come across them). Until that point it was merely hearsay for those (many) who didn't watch the live feed.

Well it would appear that the current suggestion of some Goons is that he "have his cake and eat it too" by stepping down from his CSM6 position, since technically CSM7 hasn't started yet. "That would actually be a pretty hilarious troll", they say. It's also apparently to "deal with nerds" like myself (they mentioned a post I had made bringing up the fact that he's offered to resign but has yet to do so).

There are far too many loopholes appearing for The Mittani to step through in order to keep his promise of resigning without actually resigning, and I would imagine he's aware of them. I predict that nothing is going to really change in regard to CSM7.

I think that was one step to far for a player and more than one for a CSM.
He should get kicked from CSM and get a ban as a player for xyz months..
other ppl get banned for saying "*******" to somebody for a few days.
For trying to kill a person with cybermobbing cause the option is there a sensible person isn't acceptable!

Yes that is right, because the Goons are Saints and have never stepped over the line or told people they should die in numerous ways, forgot about that.

Princess, they only way that CCP could be even remotely be brought into a legal proceding of any kind in the future is if petitions were filed by the victim reporting harassment with the intent to cause bodily harm and documentation being provided that CCP ignored the situation.

Of course that would be completely ignoring their legal disclaimer that communications between players in game fall outside of their ability to strictly control.

Since CCP doesn't ignore complaints about real life threats being thrown about in their game, it's unlikely that this will occur.
