My Apology

It's been brought up before and not sufficiently answered.

Why did it take 3 days for this to blow up? Immediately after the alliance panel threads like this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=85068
popped up all over the forums wondering why CCP allowed such cursing.

Thousands of people watched the Alliance panel and saw The Mittani say these admittedly bad things as they happened, but no one said anything until 3 days later. Instead they were more upset that he, and others, used the F-bomb too many times for their delicate sensibilities.

It took days for anyone to contact the affected miner and ask him what he thought, The chatlog from that conversation is readily available in this thread (and other places). The guy had no idea and really didn't seem to care.

At that point it should have been done with after a simple apology, But no, politics came into play.

Now those who didn't vote for Mittani, never would have voted for him, and actively campaigned against him are fueling the fire.

This doesn't excuse what he did, but it's being blown way out of proportion. Each and every one of you has done or said something monumentally stupid in your lives at least once. You were just lucky enough not to have a camera and a microphone nearby when you did it.

They waited for him to be announced as CSM chair.

Oh, we're reading them. You're talking about defending someone that may or may not exist, but may definitely exist in some version of the future that has or has not come true yet.

In other words, it's hypothetical bullshit.

In other words, if you were in charge of CCP's legal dept, you would wait until we have an actual dead body before taking any sort of unnecessary and irreversible action...like a ban or a banishment from CSM. You know you're probably right. I'm sure their legal department is advising they wait until there's a DB before doing anything. No DB no foul right?

Ok mittens, your apology is not accepted by me. Your behavior was totally and utterly un-acceptable.

I am with those who demand you step down from the CSM, but i also want to see the following actions, and in this i am mild.

Remove yourself from the game, or simply delete your charachter/charachters! all of them and start from the scratch, start from 0000.0000.000.

And next to that rename Goonswarm to completely something else, this is to delete your shameful behavior.

You must be let of with a prayer as you so eloquently put it, with praying your whole alliance wasnt dismantled by CCP. and your MAC/and IP banned for life.

Such is my thought on this issue.

I'm back (to a degree), what did I miss?

Let me guess...

More internet lawyering.
More people who haven't bothered to watch the video but insist on expressing their point of view.
More assertions of moral outrage at a drunken joke.
More people who haven't bothered to read the OP.
More people who don't know he is in the process of stepping down as chairman.
More people who believe The Wis actually commited suicide.
More people who actually think harassment of The Wis took place.
More people who are unaware that Mittani and The Wis have already worked things out as adults.
More people trolling because they have a personal axe to grind.
Even more internet lawyering, despite no crime or any actions justifying a lawsuit being reported.
More accusations of CCP favoritism.
More ignoring of the jest The Wis made about his "wish for death" in his original EVE Mail.
More ignoring of the fact that The Wis has denied any wrongful act by Mittani or others acting on his behalf.
Yet even more internet lawyering, based on what ifs and straw man arguments.
More accusations of Cyber Bullying of a 30 something divorced man with no evidence of mental instability or emotional imbalance... despite the fact that nothing of the sort has actually happened according to the supposed victim.

Did I miss anything new?

The inability of some to understand the gravity of this incident is why The Mittani will probably be banned. The example would be a strong statement to all players. If nothing else does, YOU will get your leader banned.

Find me one quote from him where he says he represents the ENTIRE EVE COMMUNITY.

It's because he didn't. He's clearly said he stands for his constituents. Those people who specifically voted for him. Quit making **** up.

Clearly he feels he represents the "average eve player" awwwww do you feel betrayed the mittens has been unfaithful to the swarm and has been trying to do things for the whole community?

He's talking about the csm as a whole, you illiterate hobo.

The CSM of which he is chairman or is comprehension beyond you. Since you cant understand the implication of that quote her is another one from Mittens where the goons dont even get a mention.

"As CSM Chair, I offer sound guidance and guardianship of that power; I'm one of the first to truly wield it effectively. I'm here to protect the nullsec population against the existential danger of allowing an ignorant hiseccer and Greyscale to get together and talk about jump bridges. I'm here to keep the focus of the game on spaceships instead of a testbed for WoD or a venue for more pants. It's a guardianship."

Yes its a guardianship and he has failed in his role. At least he has aplogised and intimated he will be resigning. YOu however are defending the indefensible. What I find most amusing is you think he represents the goons? He represents himself the goons are merely a tool for him to get the publicity his ego needs. If I were a goon I would feel used and a bit dirty.

Seems to me we should probably give that dude some isk.

Reprehensible behavior by The Mittani for sure. Even though EVE is ruthless, and we're all scumbags, on the other end of that magical internet line are real people. We all agree to no holds barred PvP, with that comes some of the greatest stories in EVE, but when we're talking about real people here, real consequences from our actions, human decency is never a bad thing.

I think my favorite thing about this thread is how goons went from being smug and dismissive to very mad.

They've manipulated crowds to do their bidding before, but now the beast has turned on them, and they're utterly powerless before it. How upsetting that must be.

Actually, in his role as a CSM he did exactly what he said he'd do, and if he were to stay on this term (which I doubt, but that is by the by) he'd do the exact same thing.
