Oh, we're reading them. You're talking about defending someone that may or may not exist, but may definitely exist in some version of the future that has or has not come true yet.

In other words, it's hypothetical bullshit.

People need to take a step back and chillax man.

Find me one quote from him where he says he represents the ENTIRE EVE COMMUNITY.

Go ahead, I'll wait.

You can't?

It's because he didn't. He's clearly said he stands for his constituents. Those people who specifically voted for him. Quit making **** up.

Yeah.. the second external Internet Sites reported him as being a CSM Council Member and CSM Chairman he stands for the Eve Community.

Who he stands for on the Eve Forums doesn't mean **** in this case.

Who cares what the nerd media is inaccurately reporting. People are talking about an Eve 'scandal' on the interwebs, that will bring in subscriptions no matter what they say.

We are really satisfied with what came out of these turmoils, and the average player in EVE Online will also feel the impact this had on CCP's priorities."

Clearly he feels he represents the "average eve player" awwwww do you feel betrayed the mittens has been unfaithful to the swarm and has been trying to do things for the whole community?

I like LA Blue Girl, but it doesn't have enough of the hur hur in it, too much random talking, needs more hur hur.

Anyway, there's been a crap load of really stupid posts since I went to bed.

It's really simple guys, Mittens made a mistake, apologized privately and publicly. In my opinion, it's over.

Continuing to call for him to step down or hurfblurf all over the damn place makes you look like all you want is for him to be deposed because you are butt hurt over the fact that Mittani is actually liked and you are not, with jealousy thrown in because you hate Mittani for no real reason other than thinking he's a douchebag. This is merely a concerted effort to smeer a guy who was already drunk and smeered himself all over the damn place, then some douche decided to call no name media outlets, who were picking their butts doing absolutely nothing until this came about because of one or two douche bags white knighting on a moral high ground pedestal who are only out for their purposes, not coming to the aid of someone else.

None of you care about The Wis, those of you white knighting for Mittani's head. The Wis does not care about the entire situation. You'll believe what you want, and continue to hurfblurf heart attack all over the place, so I guess it doesn't matter anymore what anyone says. In the end, I fear the mob will take over, because they are stupid and like to spend all their waking hours making heart attack posts about a subject that the target of the subject really thinks is hilarious, and really does not care about.

None of your examples parallel what the Mittani did. He didn't engage in non-consensual pvp, or scam someone or just criticise someone. In all those circumstances it might well be reasonable to claim that such actions, which constitute integral parts of the game, shouldn't be constrained by someone's claims about their health, especially if those claims are directed at stopping parts of the legitimate action of the game. What he did was stand up in public, out of the game, as an influential figure in the eve community and mock someone for their claims about their real life mental state before giving out that person's name and then encouraging other people to pursue him, explicitly in the context of his self-identification as someone who had considered taking his own life and with the implication that such actions might cause him to do so. That is not an integral part of the game and preventing such actions in future would have no negative effect on game-play and nor would it constrain any reasonable behaviour.

No you're right, but there are people in this thread claiming that his participation in those actions which are well within the game rules made him unfit for CSM position even before any of this. I guess I just don't see how a drunken mistake (something everyone who drinks has done) which he has sincerely apologized for is any indication of his ability to chair the CSM. I'd hold a real politician to the same standards, apologise to the offended party, make reparations to the offended party and let everyone else get on with their lives.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to read all (as of now) 116 pages of this thread, but in the many that I have read, not once have I seen anyone within GoonSwarm Federation break ranks on this topic, backing their CEO to the bitter end.

I find that to be either statistically amazing, or a testament to the collective hive mind they possess. Which is it?

We have a living breathing example of Alex calling for someone to be harassed to a real life death. Its no longer a hypothetical. EvE is only barley dodging a bullet on this because we caught it before it had real world ramifications.

Its real and staring us in the face at this moment.

Harrassed through IN-GAME MEANS. This is a big difference.

Premediatated actions like this occur all the time. They are in fact encouraged by the developers again, and again. Everytime someone steals something, or kills someone, or thinks to themselves (or discuss with other plays outloud) "I'm going to grief the crap out of this player because the tears I get are going to be hilarious" they are playing the game by design.

I can see the arguement where this is was tasteless. I can see the arguement where this was a stupid thing to do while drunk. I can see where this would be inappropriate. And from those arguements I can also see a desire to have Mittens step down.

But this whole OMG HE SHOULD BE BANNED/ ARRESTED/ FLOGGED line of thinking is totally ludacris. Thank CCP for the environment where this is possible, don't blame Mittens/Goons and others from taking advantage of just how open the world is and what is possible inside of it.

Ya know something I may have skipped over is how this taints the CSM. I keep getting a pictures of the alliance panel and I hear CSM in my head. Now I know its not the same people but in my weirdly wired head it has become just that. That whole panel is the CSM to me. Now I already knew I didn't want to be a part of the null alliance thing after a half dozen months on an alt there. I tried to stick around but I just couldn't get around that I was letting drunken fools lead me. 6 months, my bad, how stupid, fail etc, ok I agree so I left.

Problem is this CSM transference. Are our CSM as bad as Mittani or the rest of this panel? Is all of eve as bad as these people? I keep thinking I'm with a group of mature men but instead I think I'm in a party of drunken adolescents showing off their pubic hair. all One of them.

Then the next question, its not as loud since their turnaround but, is this CCP?
