Holy crap you ******* child. The "victim" was someone, likely a botter, who lost 23 mackinaws to a suicide gank - that's less than a hundred dollars in isk worth of ships - and threatened to commit suicide over it. Threatening to commit suicide over the loss of a hundred dollars. This isn't a dying, crippled child with no way to escape his pain other than EVE who lost his officer fit machariel that he wanted to give to his brother after he passed away, this is a manchild who got pissy his botting mining fleet was blown up when he was mining ice in an area where people were likely getting blown up around him (the Gallente interdiction).

There're limits to what any sane human can get righteously indignant over and still be called rational, and you're way over the line. You seriously made a thread over this?

Also I seriously hope you don't teach english with spelling and grammar like that.

How's that for cyber bullying?

Hey there,

I think a few things need to be bourne in mind.

First: We are not, as players , responsible, nor can we be made responsible, for the mental health of the other players. That's a responsibility that is too large to be placed on players shoulders, nor should it be. The second you hand that off, is the second you kill any sort of game.

I know CCP have a community safety section (Most MMO's do) so situations like this they do keep an eye out on. They arnt responsible, but Iknwo they will try to help any player who is in such a situation.

If you run into this, i suggest sending a petition. Just to be a reasonable person.

I wouldn't have publicised the guys details, nor goaded others into going at them. Thats something I wouldn't do. I think it was a mistake, but I don't think there was real malice there. I dont think anyone from the GSF, or anyone else really wants someone to hurt themselves after some in game interaction.

It just struck me as a mistake. And noone here doesn't make mistakes. We all do.

It strikes me that this is a bone to grab to throw at the person involved, as opposed to a general feeling against this. If there was, wed have alot more anti-bullying things going on by players in game.

Take a minute. We are, in the end, all decent human beings. Noone wants anyone to hurt themselves over the game.

~ 10,058 ~

Which is accounts and also less than 3% by representation?

But, doing the math, it was also around 20.5% of the total vote.
Guess you should have tried to convince more people to vote for candidates that you might feel would have better represented you, or better yet, maybe have built a name for yourself and tried to run. If anything, you probably would have received more votes than Xenuria as long as you didn't come off as insane.

Learn from this, maybe do something yourself next time around, and hush your tears.

I can't help myself:

"Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move.""

Okay, its a Captain America quote. Sue me. :)

Argumentum ad populum is a logical fallacy! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum) .

But it does make the point. Beware the tyranny of the Majority! (That sounds so anticlimactic!) (Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyranny_of_the_majority)

Anyway, its a tangent, i'm sure you have other things you want to discuss than logical fallacies.

It is typical of the sort of pretentious twerp who links wikipedia articles after naming a logical fallacy to fail to read the articles himself. The only argument made in this thread is that The Mittani must represent a significant proportion of the EVE playerbase since he received the most votes -- not that winning a democratic election makes him right about anything.

Next time, idiot, please "help yourself" by reading the thread before posting.

I only responded to the statement of "3% of the population" with the percentage received of the accounts that actually voted.

That's only a statement of math, and makes no claims as to how proper "drunken public ranting about people with extra-special SERIOUS BUSINESS issues" is or is not.

Followed by pointing out a possible option he could take in addressing his feelings that he is not being properly represented by the CSM.

Ad hominem already. ;)

I hope im not pretentious. Heck I suck at debating!

However, in order to alleviate your fears, I actually think the guys on the CSM do a good job, even Mittens himself.

I was just making the point that a better way of getting your point across is not to quote vote numbers, but to come at it with reasons.

I think i might have made the point for you anyway. I don't think he meant anything by what he said, and the presentation was a just a who's who of GSF activities, and the various victims.

Im sure if you got to know me, you wouldn't think im pretentious. Or an idiot (well maybe a little bit of an idiot)

Take care

There are other ways of getting his point across, yes! Just reminded me of that quote.

That being said, the CSM is fairly serious. It is the poster child for taking the playerbase of an MMO seriously. It is the template that others will have to follow for user engagement.

That being said, i think the CSM has, over its life, done a pretty good job.

I hope you wont think what i said was a personal attack, far from it. I guess im just a sucker for saying my piece. So i hope you wont be too offended that i wont be "Hushing my face".

Take care.

Probably not, people have rioted before and all they got for it was an apology video from CCP and The Mittani lmao.
The CSM is a joke, it does not represent the majority of eve players, and as long as null-bloc alliances dominate it, it never will.
The best we can hope for is that CCP realizes the CSM does not represent the majority of eve players and will keep that in mind when the CSM wants to use highsec as a nullsec test bed, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Coincidentally once upon a time the United States had a similiar issue with it's elections, larger states would dominate smaller states in elections because they could bring the most votes, resulting in smaller states having little say in their government, and so the electoral college was invented. Maybe we need something similar?

Actually i'd like to answer somthing very sensible sidus said. One of the major problems with cyber bullying within schools is that it follows kids home. Becasue of peer preasure etc they feel they cant just turn the pc off and have to take part in Facebook etc, even if they are being harased and bullied.
Its a real issue that is on the rise, certainly in the UK.

This is EVE, its for adults. It contains a warning when you sign up.

Cyberbulling between kids isn't nice but this was two adults playing a computer game. The guy claiming to be suicidal could have been making it up as much as Mittani putting on an act for the audience. Its hardly a case of one dude bullying another, it was one dude laughing at another one for pulling a sob story when he got shot at in a computer game.

Jesus christ, get over it, go outside.

Vote for one that does?

What's the point, your people just hijack the election and get trolls elected regardless of who the majority votes for. I always knew this game was full of a**hole sadists but to attempt to drive someone with a mental imbalance to suicide is a new low, I hope CCP bans those responsible.

Please stand by for goonshat....

The "lol get over it" side of this issue would seem more credible if 99% of the support for it wasn't coming from Goons who will rally behind their glorious leader in just about any circumstance. It doesn't seem like a whole lot of not-Goons are facerolling their keyboards right now producing posts of support for the stance. I would have imagined that the ~10058~ would be able to get some of those alts to "weigh in" just to create an illusion of broad consensus...

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.
