Siri is overrated, and my Lenovo X201 tablet can do so much more than any Android tablet I've ever looked at that I really don't plan on buying one anytime soon.

SIri might be overrated, never used it so no idea, just know people being upset that it was not included.

Lenovo makes tablets? link please.

Well iPad is not an android tablet so I don't get your point.

What is it that you actually use the pad for? I use mine for surfing porn and playing silly games. Basically just a toy,

Why someone is willing to spend so much on something so terrible is beyond me. People have more money than sense these days. For the same price you could get a decent laptop or even better, a super gaming PC.

I do almost all of my classwork on it. It's chief advantage is that it's a touchscreen tablet (of the old-school reversible-screen variety) and a laptop at the same time. I take most of my notes in OneNote (and the rest in Powerpoint, if the instructor has made the slides available); the computer is capable of distinguishing between my fingers and the stylus so I don't have to hold my palm up off the screen. Do most of my homework in OneNote too, since my instructors like to see handwritten copy.

It runs Windows 7 so it can run Office as well as every other Windows program. I actually switched to Office from OpenOffice a few years ago because OpenOffice lacks some specific features (most notably, the equation editor in Word). It syncs automatically to my NAS when I'm at home without having to go through some 3rd party cloud service, which is nice since I prefer to work on Word documents and spreadsheets on my desktop. It can also run my VB graphing software, which isn't required by any means but sure is nice for my math classes since I sold my TI-92 because they'd never let me use it on tests where it actually counts. Also, Paint.net and other free image editors that I'm familiar with which has come in handy in some of my lab classes. Battery lasts about 6 hours with the wireless off, half that with it on (via a slide switch on the side of the case). I generally keep it off unless I need to access something in particular, then I turn it on, grab what I need, then turn it off again. SSD, 4GB of RAM, and an i7-640m CPU keep everything moving smoothly. Also, it can transfer data to/from USB memory sticks (which are ubiquitous at my school) and other boring laptop stuff.

The only real downside (aside from cost) is that programs not written for touch don't work with touch very well. Windows itself will recognize some gestures (useful for scrolling, just drag the page with a finger instead of fiddling with the scrollbar with the trackpad) but for the most part I have to use the stylus. Also it has Intel graphics so it can't run games worth a damn, but that's not what I bought it for. Hopefully Windows 8 will address some of these issues - can't really see myself putting in on my desktop but it might be useful on the tablet PC.

From what I heard, the specs isn't that much different between iPad 2 and 3 right? I also read an article that the iPad 3 battery lies to you about being 100%.

Don't plan on owning an apple product. I'm happy with the Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 and waiting for its successor, 11.6 from the rumors. Only iffy thing about this device is this oil smudge on the screen. :( About to send it over to get another one (2nd time to return it)

Who the hell want a device that lock you so much down that you would need a shotgun and shoot / kill the iPad before you can get rid of the jail you are in?

You have no ways of customizing the iPad after you liking and make it more fun / creative / easy to use. There is no way for you to use an iPad or iPhone or any other iOS devices without using the crappy program just called iTunes. Yes it sucks ass to Windows.

And omg, don't get me started on the hell iTunes is about, because all it's about is converting, converting, converting, converting and converting all day long before you can get over some movies and such, because iOS barly supports any movie / music formats at all.

And on top of that, iOS doesn't even supports themes lol. Do i really need to say more about that?

With an iOS device, you have to pay for apps and games that we gets for free on Android.

There is no ways to actually use the iPad or other iOS devices as an external harddrive as we can do on Android devices either.

I can probably write down 50 more things that simply just sucks donkey ass with the whole iOS thing, but i think i have said the most important things now.

iOS haven't developed much since 2007 except that it have got some few extra features and programs, yay. Aye, we are living in 2012 where Android devices are 2-3 generations over iOS devices.

If you want the best tablet that currently exist, then get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. It will be a beast with Android 4.0.3 on it.

It can be used as a phone and a tablet and on top of that have the worlds best screen called Super AMOLED Plus. It for sure will be fun to watch movies on.

OK. first of all ALL DEVICES ARE LOCKED DOWN. Not just the iPad/iPhone or any portable device, singly. Many Android devices require rooting to be able to customize or use apps that are outside of the manufacturers desires. So ENOUGH WITH THE BASH ON IOS BEING LOCKED DOWN ALREADY!!

Also, I own both, Android, iPhone and iPads and BOTH required some work to get to customizing the WAY I WANTED THEM!!

For your info, the iPAD 3 has been JB already and is in development for public release. iPAD3 JB

Also, The JB process is only 2 minutes and doesn't require a massive combination of button presses and code to operate. The Devs for iOS JB are also Devs in the Android forums as well... Take a look HERE & HERE.

Before you make an assumption that any device (Android, iOS or WebOS) is a POS. Educate yourself first.

Limited versions, reference Angry Birds, Galaxy on Fire HD -> Do you really think that the developers of some of the best selling apps are going to give away premium content for ANYONE on ANY DEVICE??

There is no ways to actually use the iPad or other iOS devices as an external harddrive as we can do on Android devices either

Remote sync -> Many come with this ability already and m any apps are free to store remotely. I personally dont have a need for more that 16 gig on my device as I can DL what I need immediately, no matter where I am... Android devices do this as well and some are getting away from the SD card as the "in the cloud storage" is becoming more mainstream.

Reference the Super AMOLED Plus as a failure compared to the Retina technology (Both designed by Samsung, thank you) is a toss up, but with the new resolution that the iPAD 3 hold with the output to true HD, even its Android competitors say they have a way to go before catching up to the resolution madness of the iPAD 3 (2048x1536)

How can you call Android for locked down when iOS is even 10 times more locked down than stock Android even after being jailbreaked?

You don't get that many new things to fiddle with when you root your Android phone or tablet. All it gives you is access to the system folders and that, and it lets you change the CPU speed for example. Those few things you get with a rooted device is nothing compared to what you get by jailbreaking an iOS device.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and it takes me 5 seconds top to root my device with one single click. It's that easy.

I think you should rather look on XDA-Developers web page and see for your self what kind of endless possibilities we have with Android devices.

1. I have no idea what i'm talking about?

Ofc i know what i'm talking about, but the fact that you have to jailbreak your phone before you can change themes is exactly making my point of being in a jail with iOS.

2. And what's the point with that program when MKV and those files aren't supported by hardware?

You know that ANY MKV files even at 720p will get frame drops and that kind of things when it's just running via software on an iPad or iPhone. Again, you have to convert all of your movies to MP4 if you want hardware support on your movies, that means converting, converting, converting, converting and converting all day long.

3. Angry Birds is not a limited version on Android. It's the same version as the payed one except that the free one have ads in it. But hey, if you are rooted and install something called LuckyPatcher on your Android device, you can actually remove ads from all of the programs you have on those programs.

Or you can just install a program called AdAway (needs root) or AdBlocker to remove ads to.

4. Storing something on the cloud and using something as an external harddrive is 2 totally different things. Using the cloud costs money to use since you will use AAAAAAAAALOOOOT of data to stream movies or whatever.

Why not have the external harddrive functionality that is free instead?

It's not just free, but it's the fastest and easiest way of moving files from one place to another place.

5. First off, LCD is an old technology and have crappy view angles and black is not black on LCD displays. It's more gray than black.

The Super AMOLED Plus screen on my Samsung Galaxy S II shows very good colors and black is totally black. Watching pictures and movies on a Super AMOLED Plus screen is an experience on it self. Nothing beats that.

WOW!!! Fanboiism at its best... I OWN BOTH AND BOTH ARE EQUALLY LOCKED.!!! ATRIX ring any bells? of course not.. BC you are using Google's phone (good device, I admit to that Google needs to reign in all phone companies to model after)

MKV files.... OPLayer (Non Jailbroken devices can use) and supports 1080 (iPhone 4s and iPad3). So your point there is invalid.

Samsung even admitted the retina is better but they are required to license it to Apple only for the first 5 years (development patents and such) so, again.. SuperAMOLED - Blehhh.

I do not have full access to the file system without rooting/Jailbreaking either device... Oh and XDA Forums... wow, the only people on there with a brain are the devs as many of the moochers whinge about not getting something exactly the way they want it.

But I digress... It's the new Windows vs. Mac battle all over again.

I am just leaving that both require work to get exactly where you want... decide what you want in a device OP and consider ALL of the options. not just fanbois raging about which is better than the other. Also, consider support... legacy support is very important as devices age and you would still like to use your device in 5 years, I'm sure.

So true, so did not a single person get the new iPad on this forum? I am still most likely going to get it. Just waiting a week or 2 more.

I looked at the ASUS transformer and it looks great, problem is for me, the iTunes store seem to be a lot better. Well I hated the android store on my smart phones. Also at least on smart phones my experience with Android has been very mixed, iOS is well, always iOS, it does what it needs to and at least in regards to my MACBOOK pro I've never had a single problem with it unlike MS and Android. Asus one uses the android store. Product wise is similar but apple store has a bit more content.

So besides the store I also want it for the 4G, since I got very good 4g by several different service providers for cheap where I live. The asus one does not have that.

Other than that, it is Apple so I know the product will be quality, my laptop is asus g74s and I have no doubt their quality is great too so no battle there.

The screen looks great but what is great with the screen and another deciding factor is the difference it does to ebook reading. I intend to use it a lot for that purpose, also the voice dictation is a feature I plan to use on regular basis if holds up to what people say it does.

Hmm what else, it is a closed system? Well, it does not prevent you from playing music and movies from your PC, just need to convert the files and that is without jailbreak. Other than that, what exactly is it that I need to break it for? emulators? pirated games? Not sure, please tell me more about how it being closed affects me in any way for what I intend to use it for. Or something I have not come to realize that I want yet?

No flash support sucked for iPad one, did not get that or iPad 2, does flash matter today?

Anyway, if I forgot something let me know.

So did anyone actually have hands on experience and own one yet and wanna share their thoughts?

PS: Fanboys are annoying so please take a hike and troll somewhere else.

My roommate just bought one to replace his first-gen iPad. Comparing it to my iPad 2, the main thing that really jumps out at me is the screen. It's noticeably better then the iPad 2. It really is an awesome screen. It's got a much beefier GPU for gaming, but I haven't played any of the newer games on it at all to compare. The camera is a bit better, but still not as good as what you can get on many smart phones, and you wouldn't look nearly as ridiculous taking a picture with a phone. It's slightly heavier and thicker, but not negatively so. I didn't really notice the added thickness until I held them both up for comparison.

I don't plan to upgrade yet, since the refinements over my iPad 2 don't justify the price tag. If Apple were to offer some sort of trade-in/upgrade program, then I might have considered getting it.

I understand the desire of some for more access to the internals of a device.

However, I am reminded of all the problems that people had with Windows PDA. With that one, all the manufacturers basically took the Windows OS for PDA and tailored it to their PDA. It was a horrible mess. And the PDAs themselves were not very reliable, they were not horrible, but just comparing my iPod Touch to my Toshiba E800, the iPod has not crashed once while in the same period of time my E800 crashed maybe 3 or 4 times.

Apples approach to the iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, to keep them mostly closed, to keep tight control over hardware and software, is actually makes these devices more user friendly, more reliable for most customers, which in turn makes for happy customers. Happy customers buy your products, keep buying them in the future and spread the word around which brings in even more customers.

Yes, there are a few customers that will chafe under these strict Apple policies, but they are few and far between, that is why Apple's policies are successful now and will remain successful in, at least, near future.

So. You either buy Apple product which is reliable and has very few (if any) hoops to jump though or you buy something else and then teach yourself all the little tricks required to get this other device to do things you want. You, the customer, get to decide how you spend your time, using Apple product or reading guides on the internet how to setup your Android or WinOS device.

My wife bought me a iPad 2 for my birthday, the best smoke and mirrors device ever once you get over the initial wow factor there's not much going on.

I could've been honest and told her to take it back but I did what most men would do, smile and say it was just what I wanted.

Bottom line, I use it to play Ascendency at work and f**k all else.

Still think tablets are a solution looking for a problem.

A lot of people sell their iPad 2's for great value on ebay and listings etc. You should check that out. From my understanding however, unless you intend to use 4g and feel the screen improvement is a huge deal you are better of with keeping your iPad 2.

How is the iPad 2 anyway when it comes to gaming? or you don't game on it?

Solution looking for a problem? heh, don't know if I agree with you but take the asus transformer for example, that can be pretty much everything in one piece of equipment. Wish it came with 3g/4g though.
